With the temperature today I did not have high hopes but with all my Christmas shopping done, I had a window and opted not to waste it. I pointed the truck east, cranked up some CCR and hung a foot in it. After a couple hours driving we arrived to 79 degrees.


I put the GPS collar on the pudelpointer, put my vest on with a collapsible cup and several bottles of water. Put my shotgun together and we hit the woods. I love exploring new places with a good dog. This was the first time I had hunted this area and needed to be home by dark before company starts showing up so we had a short window. I thought the area had potential and we hit the woods. The area was more open than I usually hunt. I was relaxed and enjoying a good day just me and the dog and was able to snap a few pictures of cricket on point. The brush was messing with the focus so the pics are low quality. Hopefully you can get a feel for what we were up to.


This one screwed me in the ground.


Limit is three birds. Each shot was through small windows in the heavy cover and we made it home before dark.
