Seems extra snaky this year Actually, a below average year here. Have only seen 3 rattlers and usually by this time I've seen 6-10. My place too. Probably 'cause I have sharpened hoes in several places within easy reach this year and usually roll with something that shoots shot.

I think the big freeze killed some. I'm seeing less snakes, lizards and horned toads.

I used to be loaded with them South of Bowie. Then we got a 3 or 4 year drought. Along with a lot of wildlife, snakes didn’t survive it. In the last 15 years, I’ve seen 3 or 4 rattlers on the dirt roads. But none on my land. And, with pigs, I’ve only seen 3 or 4 snakes of any kind.
Without a sense of urgency, nothing ever happens.
