1973, just before I was drafted.

Saw him twice in the Seventies.
First time he was in his prime, it was great.
Second time was near the end and was not so good
as he was forgettin lyrics and seemed to be struggling.
But, the 2001 space odyssey introduction never failed to get the party started.
The camera flashes were like a modern day light show, never seen anything like it at the time!

Elvis died the summer before my senior year of high school. There were a lot of women that were tore up over his death. I can’t think of another singer whose death would trigger the level of grief that Elvis did. I was not a big Elvis fan but his voice was undeniable. Elvis appears to be strung out on something and half out of his mind. Up to the end though the gift that was his voice never failed him.

I had just returned from tech school at was stationed at home (Carswell AFB). We had an older female Filipino Sgt that cried and wailed for a week upon his death. I was just 17 and had never experienced anything like that before. I like Elvis, my Uncle kinda reminded me of him.
