Well, at least 95% complete. As the remaining "coats" of finish will only amount to a few drops of linseed apiece, I figure we're close enough to "done" to sight her and take some pictures.

For anyone arriving late to the party, this is the restoration of a 1934 vintage Winchester Model 67 .22 rimfire belonging to my 96 year old aunt. When she sent it home with me and I discovered that the old gal acted like she wanted to perform, I decided to see what could be done about erasing a bunch of the years of neglect this old farm gun had endured. For details about some of that previous process, see 88 Years Young and Facelift in the Offseason.

What I started with:

After CeraKote and some bedding work, all that remains is for me to tap a bit of left windage into the sights!

I expect this old girl has another eighty-eight years ahead of her now. Maybe somebody'll polish me up if I make it to 88!

You missed, rifle doesn't shoot.

I'll do you a favor and buy it.

I have a host of friends!

Thanks for the offer, but I'll probably just keep it and hold at ten o'clock! roflmao

Nice work. Lots of great old guns sitting in the back of closets, gathering dust on pawn shop shelves etc. that would love to have the same treatment.

Thanks to everyone for all the kind words and positive comments.

This was really a labor of love for me...and a small way of honoring the Greatest Generation. Those folks weathered the Great Depression (which spawned low-cost, utilitarian rifles like this one) and then did their part when the entire world was at war. And if that wasn't enough, then they had to contend with the likes of me and my generation! They had sand, that's for sure...

Mark

Absolutely right. That gun wants to shoot and should be shot. Very nice job on the facelift up
