Does anyone own one of these blinds? I’ve been looking at them for awhile now and when I finally finish clearing my place, I’d like to find a couple of good box blinds. Looking for people who have experience with them.

I can't speak the quality of them today, but I hunt on a ranch owned by some friends of mine that have a lot of them. They are 10 yrs old up to some newer ones. The older ones have not held up well at all. I was not impressed with them for the price they paid.

Boss Game Systems? If so, love mine. 8x6 with a half hex front, put it out in ‘18 I think it was. I don’t know how you couldn’t like this thing or how it could degrade if you at least keep it painted. It’s been out for 4 Texas summers and looks fine. Mounted on top of a utility trailer, might be for sale soon.

Charlie, just curious but, why are you thinking of selling?

One of the ranches I get to hunt on has 50+ of the 7'x10' Luxury blinds on 12' towers. They have flip up windows that all leak. On cold winter days with rain or ice the windows freeze shut. The carpet is always wet, molds and pulling up from the floors. Blinds are full of yellow jackets in the fall, they are getting in thru the doors latches. The camo ones faded badly. The newer ones are not much better. These blinds are Lasalle County so they see a little heat there 9 months out of the year. You couldn't give me one based on my experience with a large sample size.

I only have one fancy blind. It’s a 4x6 on a 10’ tower from Redneck blinds. Just a guess, but I suppose it’s about 10 years old. The external paint has faded. I never was a big fan of the flip up windows, but they seal up pretty well, though I did get a little water from this last ice event. I guess the blind got iced up and water got in when it melted. It has a fiberglass coated floor that’s covered with a thin rubber mat. The door seals well, and it’s rare to get a wasp or yellow jacket in there, but those danged asian beetles sure got in. Anyway, I’d recommend these, and I’d buy another if I needed it.

My gripe about flip up windows is that they have two positions - wide open or totally shut. I don’t like them totally shut, in case I need to shoot quickly, and when it’s really cold and the wind is howling, the heater struggles to warm the blind. I’ve learned to live with it.

Mine has flip-ups and while I agree with the "open or closed", I'll take a silent flip-up vs a noisy slide open any day. I just put something on the shelf to prop it open a bit if not being opened all the way.

STx certainly has his experience, I just don't see how any of that could happen with the way that mine is built. Quality metal insulated door (Atascosa has the same), windows don't leak, don't know where bugs could get in, solid floor. I have carpet on the walls, but horse stall rubber mats on the floor. Either we have two different mfr's we're talking about or they're built differently now. They are made in College Station, go take a look. Whoop!

We have several of the Boss Game Systems fiberglass blinds that have been out in the pasture 24/7 since 2015. All are holding up very well, watertight and no bugs. A couple will need some paint on the roof soon but that's about it for maintenance. Door is fully weather-stripped.

There are alot of "Boss this and that" out there but these are Boss Game Systems made in College Station. Lifetime warranty, standup company. I looked at them all before choosing one to partner with.

The ones that ranch has are all Boss Game System blinds out of College Station. The rain hits the windows and then runs down inside the blinds with the flip windows. The yellow jackets get in where the door latches. I found the issue when I was sitting in one and opened the door to leave. The lock catch was full of yellow jackets and it allowed just enough room for them to get in from the outside and then into the blind itself. They also would be along the top or bottom of the door against the weather stripping. When you opened the door the fell on you or crawled inside the blind. This was always in the fall or winter when the yellow jackets and wasp are looking for a place to hibernate. They also have about 15 or so archery only stands. I have not hunted out of those to know how they are made. The first Boss Blind was put on that ranch back in 2003 or 2004. It faded very bad and had a weak floor. Some of the older(10yr) Boss Luxury Blinds had very weak floors also. May not be an issue on smaller blinds but on those 7x10' blinds it felt spongy after a few years. They may have improved them in the past 3 or 4 yrs but the ones I have sat in are not the quality you expect for what you pay for them. They are not the quality for a long term, high dollar blind you want IMO.

I gotta ask STX, what blinds would you recommend?

if you ask me MB Ranch King is gold standard in a deer blind. They are high, but VERY NICE
