I have recently inherited some billing and responsibilities for my elderly mom. Looking into how much she pays a month , it is quite alarming for her shows and usage.

Anyway, what is the simplest way to get some shows plus the basic 4,5,8,11

Her elderly mind won’t let her go thru a bunch of steps or instructions

What has been the easiest way to turn tv on and use a remote?

Thanks

In that situation probably the best for her would be to downgrade her current service to Basic cable only. That way she keeps using what she has been using. Digital/antenna can get frustrating.

I have a Roku for my tv. There are some free applications, like TUBI and Pluto. Lots of channels

Good luck I went from over 250 channels to Nothing but VHS & CD's you can buy boxes full of Old Shows she just might like it and they have No Commercials! Just ask her if that would be something she would like.

Only shows she watches are
Family feud, 25 words or less, Big Bang theory, and fox news
She watches tv from 8p-10

I think basic cable is maybe to much

I don’t watch tv or pay my bill at my house. I know they are being billed about $150 for internet and cable

I was just made aware of these and it seems like a lot for her needs

Call the cable company and see what they can do for you. Our Dish Satellite bill was too much. Called them and said we were canceling our service because it was too high. Person on the phone said what can we do to keep up. I explained what we watched and saved $40.00 per month.
It's worth a shot.

You're only getting FOX News with some kind of cable/satellite package.

Our bedroom tv is only a few years old, needs to be digital ready. I bought a $20 square antenna at Home Depot. Picks up all the local channels plus Grit and Me Tv. Seems like it also had Circle Access, a Grand Ole Opry channel. Use the tv remote.

I mainly bought so we could have a local weather report during storms, even with out cable.

If the 2nd amendment was written just to include guns for hunting, why is there not an amendment to protect fishing poles?

I have Grande and it was getting too high and realized I watch Pluto and youtube and never watched their cable offerings. When bill got up around 200 a month I cut off cable channels and kept my internet based stuff and modem and bill went to $58.88 a month. Between Pluto, Youtube, and my wifi I'm entertained and saving a little more.

She could cut that out pretty easy.

Spectrum won’t talk to me without a death certificate, pretty awesome.

Call them with her in the room and the bill in front of you.

Say you are her. Very easy. I've done a number of times. Only once was I questioned and I played the Dem's card saying I-know-you-didn't-just-assume-my-gender-so-let's-get-to-business-or-we-can-get-lawyers-involved.

I cut the cord, about a year ago. No regrets....
On a side note, OP.. I've been binge watching the old TV series, "Buck Rodgers"
And I've come to the conclusion, that Spandex was invented, for Erin Gray..
Lots of free programming. But you do have to "search" for it. So, I'm
not sure it's an ideal thing for her. It can get complicated, at times..

TV depends on where she lives. If anywhere around D/FW, get an antenna. I have one at my rural property, 70 miles from D/FW, outside of Bowie. I get a lot of local channels including Fox, CBS, ABC, GRIT, lots of game shows, old reruns, soap operas, sales junk, etc. it’s about 40 channels and free. However, in a storm, that far away, antenna stuff gets interrupted.

I agree with calling them, ask for a customer loyalty representative. Explain your circumstances, they will help lower or change to a more basic plan. They can tell you what channels.

In my worthless opinion, cable is the only way to go. Cutting the cord just opens the door for more problems, Dish just sucks.

I meant to visit with you Saturday about your situation. I was there when my sister and her husband became ill with Dementia, and I had to take over all their lives. it's really a lot of work.

I put up an OTA antenna and get a bunch of channels. Locals plus things like grit etc. The religious and home shopping channels I hide on my guide. I get probably 60 total with the antenna aimed at the main collection of towers south of Dallas. We are Amazon Prime members ($129 year) so with our Fire TV Streaming device we get all their stuff, including Imdb, plus I have Pluto and Tubi for free. We have a Fire TV recast that works with the Fire TV Streaming device and records all the antenna received shows and I can watch recorded stuff on the other tv or my Kindle wherever I want. The only disappointment with all of it is I don't get first run cable/satellite broadcast showings of First 48, Lonestar Law, Deadliest Catch etc. I do have the $1.00 a month Hulu streaming, but it does not show them either, or I have to wait a week to watch. But I do have access to pretty much all the older library of those shows.

Oh, and I have to pay $58 a month for a 400mb internet. I am working on that...

Sounds like you are looking a simple to use setup. It's easy to set up a smart TV to go straight to whatever source or app is needed. With YouTubeTV, you can put the channels in whatever order you want. Pull up the program guide, and it starts with your favorites. I'm sure other services do the same. If you "need" Fox News, an antenna isn't an option.

All you need is an antenna to get the channels you want. Depending on your location may get away with a cheap indoor antenna.

Look here for channels in your area:
