Headed to Dalhart for our annual Prairie Dog hunt on Tuesday. Long azz drive for a very few dogs. The pups haven't been growing enough yet, so we were a little early to catch the young, dumb ones. There were a ton of them, but they are VERY educated to hunters. Like in past years as soon as we pulled into the pasture after seeing them everywhere, they popped up 400+ yards away and with a very stiff wind, made hitting them very difficult. You would hold over shoot, see the bullet impact and if he stayed up long enough on about the 3rd or 4th shot, you'd get close enough to kill it or scare it into a hole.
I think I had 3 confirmed kills for about 50 shots.

What bullet were you shooting in the high wind? Probably not a 40 grainer…
Not my monkeys, not my circus...

What model is your Bergara Premier? I’ve been looking for an 8 twist 223 a little lighter than my Tikka Varmint but they’re hard to find. May sell my Tikka and try to pick up one of the Bergara if they’re lighter.

I am pleasantly surprised at the clarity and brightness of The Zeiss V4 Conquest 6-24X50. Adjustments are very crisp and accurate. They had steel out to 600 where we were hunting. I was able to make first round hits at 300-400 & 500 in 4 shots. All gun and scope, NOT me fo sho.
