Thanks for the input everybody. I have no intention of doing it myself. Have never run a dozer. Tractors and combines, yes. But I'm not going to start trying dozers at 57 years old. I'm leaving it to the professionals. Some of the trees are large diameter, way too big for a skid steer. And yes, they'll need to be dug up, not just cut down. A spot has to be cleared for the house pad, yard and driveway. The rest of the trees will be staying, thinned out, but staying. At any rate, you all have given me a starting point. Thanks again.

You guys out East get a premium for dozer work. I learned this when I put a facility in Longview. Out here West of Ft Worth, a D6R was $125/hr last year, now it’s $140hr. These guys here won’t charge a mobilization fee either and most have a 4 hr minimum.

I’ve done this type of work for 23 years, I think I have a pretty good idea what it costs. It’s possible you know more than me though roflmao

You may know what the cost per hour for your equipment but unless you have seen what he wants done and the area you have no idea what the project will cost. And since I do own and have done a lot of land clearing maybe I do know more than you.

Guy I talked to about some stuff said he won’t even show up unless it’s a full days work and that’s 1800/day. I’m sure there are cheaper people out there but that’s east Texas.

Looks like two pieces of equipment- 450 dozer and a 20 ton excavator?

May be worth a try if they still do that kind of stuff.

National Guard has thousands of acres across the state that they can play around on and not have to haul their equipment anywhere.

Sorry for reviving this one.
I recently had some acres cleared in Lafayette, LA, where my mom lives. I had to handle it because she couldn't do it by herself. So I'll tell you the prices from there.

A small plot of land cleared, totaling around 2 acres, cost us roughly $4000. The process took about 2 days to complete.
I also had to rent a dumpster, which added another $180 to the expenses.
If someone else lives in Lafayette (small city, but you never know), I rented the dumpster from Dumpster Rentals Lafayette.

If you need a forestry mulcher there $1600-1700 for 8 hours. With a good operator you get your monies worth.

I like land clearing talk. Lot of good knowledgeable people here. If I’ve learned anything, a good operator is worth the money.

No perfect way. Mulching leaves low stumps and chips to flow into your pond if you have one. Dozing results in brush piles (with dirt if a grapple isn't also used) and dirt piles.

$140 an hour, 4 hour minimum no mobilization for a D6R? That’s pretty dang cheap these days, I’m not far from you and don’t know anyone who’d tie up a haul truck and a machine that size for that little

One year ago I paid 175 an hour and his yard is about 10 miles away so I didn’t have to pay for a trip.

I posted that two years ago, the same guys are now $175/hr.

Obviously I didn’t look closely enough to notice that this was an older thread that had been revived..$175/hr is more realistic
