Anybody have a rough estimate for dozer time to clear about an acre for a house pad and 100' of driveway? I will be in the market in the next few months and was wondering what the going rate may be. Mostly wooded with oaks up to 14-16" diameter. I wont need a pad or dirt work just yet. Just the wood clearing. Southern Palo Pinto County. Thanks for any help.

Depends

My last price was $135 an hour, min 4 hours

But that’s been a 4 years ago w a D8

I think a friend of mine gets that running a skid steer these days, I’m pretty sure he does

I figure roughly $1,000 should get looking pretty good

Your insane, nobody’s loading a 50,000 lb machine and hauling it, unloading doing the job and repeating it for a grand.

Your looking at 4-10k depending on lots of variables. Personally I’d use a 20 ton excavator since it’s a home site but your going to need to find someone very local for only needing an acre done, hauling prices today can get very expensive very quickly.

It would cost a grand in fuel to haul 50 miles and do the job,

Off the wall but here goes—if you have a National Guard post near by see if they will do it for free as a training exercise. Don’t know if they will do something that small as my project was about ten acres. They wanted to do it over a couple of weekends and just left the dozer there and left me the key to some of the work myself. First and last time I drove one but it was fun pushing over small trees. May be worth a try if they still do that kind of stuff.

I paid $2k a day for a Case 450 a 20 ton excavator two operators and a ground man with a chainsaw. They stacked the trees up and left them, I had to deal with the burning/haul off.

You need to get some estimates for yourself. All those on here that respond have no idea. Ask those that do it and go from there.

So, those who have had it done recently and paid for it have no idea how much it costs? How do you know that they have no idea?

Well, that's what I paid

Did you read the part where it said it was about 4 years ago?

I charge $1850-$2200 a day for my SVL 95 and Mulching head within an hour of Hunt County. Bigger jobs are on a bid basis. Without seeing property, I would say 1-2 days max. And that’s cleared. Nothing left but fine mulch and a few bigger trees.

And yes, I own the machine and do this for a living.

Hope this helps.

He’s building a house on it so that’s not working homie, stumps and roots have to come out.

I’ve done this type of work for 23 years, I think I have a pretty good idea what it costs. It’s possible you know more than me though roflmao

-I have no knowledge about this type of thing. But would like to guess——

Seems like 2000 a day to completely clear 1 acre with large trees would take 2 days.

My guess is 4000 dollars.

Depends on how far out you are. 4k to 7k should get it done. DO NOT mulch it.

You are correct Sir. I didn’t catch that. He must be building a hell of a house to need the entire acre grubbed and cleared. I would use dozer to remove the ones he wants out and still mulch them and everything else he wanted gone. No brush piles to deal with.

Dozer would run around same price for a day.

JMO. He can take it for what it cost him.

Most people don’t want stumps in thr yard so an acre is about right for house and yard, we run several mulchers as well and they have their place but not on a build site nor a driveway.

About 4K for the trees piled to burn, if they need to be removed from the site then the price varies depending on how far they have to go and the source needed for disposal. I’ve seen an acre as cheap as 3k and as high as 13, it all depends on the project and what’s required.

I don't do it for a living, but have cleared plenty of mesquite and hackberry trees at the ranchito with a Cat 955. It takes a while to dig out a decent sized tree. If the lot is thick with 16" trees then I'd plan on it taking a few days. Knocking them over and pushing to a pile is pretty quick, but digging the stumps is a completely different ballgame.

If you have Time, Rent you a Dozer for a week. Bought me a small 75 Horse job (Komatsu) when I had my 100 place over La Grange way years ago.. Paid for itself many times over. [Linked Image]

Do they live where he lives? Do they know exactly what his property looks like and exactly what he wants done? That is why you nor them have no idea.

I own these machines. Mostly for myself but to hire either one out would be $150/hr with a 10 hour minimum. Hauling would be $5/mile each way with a $500 each way minimum.

Small jobs are tricky. I have contracted out tens of millions of dozer and mulcher work over the past 25 years and no one wants to fool with the small jobs.

I don’t do dirt work for a living. While the above are pretty realistic rates truthfully I wouldn’t be interested in doing anything less than 10k total the hassle just ain’t worth my time.

You could rent an excavator or dozer and do it yourself if you feel capable.

We have a place in Lone Camp. Aaron Hutchins did a huge fence clearing project for us. ~6 miles of fence clering. No idea how many days it would require but he’s out of Palo Pinto so you are looking at paying minimum travel.

We also used the guy off 2201 who has a metal barn and all of his equipment just west if 281. Can’t think of his name. He built a couple tanks that have held up very well 10 years later. And cleared 50-100 acres of cedar. Aaron used to be his operator until he bought his own equipment and did it himself.

If you can get by with a skid steer, Davis Wells married a family friend of ours and runs a large skid steer but you may have larger needs than that.

Pricing last summer is night and day different from today. Fuel has doubled since then. A decent sized dozer is going to burn around 60 gallons of diesel a day.

Unless he has a little dinky dozer he likely is charging double that now.
