Trying to clear out some stuff on my phone and came across this video and thought yall might like to see it. I have hunted Texas all my life and only encountered these animals twice. Alot of people say they are really aggressive but that has not been my experience. This one was found in my tower stand 14' in the air. I couldnt get him to leave even with banging on the stand so I just closed the door and let him have the stand. I aint going to fight any animal regardless of size while standing on top of a ladder. LOL

I’ve only encountered 1 in my 55 years of deer hunting. It was in a burned out school bus hunting in Uvalde. He’d made a home in it and would hiss at me if I got too close.

We have some really old pecan trees on our place, about 200 yards from a creek that runs 6mos/yr. I've seen them in that grove on at least five occasions in the last 30 years. My BIL built a small cabin there, and a ringtail took up residence about five years ago. My BIL has cleaned out all the chit 3-4 times and fixed all the holes and he keeps coming back. They make an unbelievable mess mainly of their own feces.

Have seen 2 over many years. One was in a tower stand, and what a mess. The other was coming out of the attic in an older house on the lease.

Had one in my blind that ended up costing me $5000. Was walking up 8 stairsteps to put a chair in. My 4 yr old 100 pound Ridgeback hunting buddy & chief tracker was waiting in the truck front seat with the window open.
When I opened the door the ringtail started running around inside. My dog saw him and bailed out thru the window and his back leg landed on a melon sized rock. He yelped but charged up the stairs & attacked the cat. The cat ran around and took a long whiz of very foul smelling thick yellow urine and out the door with my dog in hot pursuit. I finally called him back, but he was limping. No visible wounds. Back home, the Vet x-rayed his leg and showed me a torn ACL. Referred me to an animal hospital in Plano. Surgery and a steel rod in his leg, antibiotics,pain pills, etc. Total of $5K, but it gave him 10 more years of a good life.
Oh, yeah had to buy a couple gallons of bleach for the blind.
