Thanks for posting such a detailed account of your trip and sharing so many pictures. I've hunted Africa twice, once in Namibia and once in South Africa. I'm dying to go again for sable and a roan. Maybe a few other animals that I don't have, but I think my wife would like to do some hunting too.

Does the outfitter have Cape Buffalo? Did you see any?

Wow
What a great hunt

Congrats on all the great trophies

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

The properties we were hunting on do not have any Buffalo, but I know he does have a property with Buffalo to hunt.

Congratulations, Wade!

I remember trading posts with you on AR back when you were first getting revved about Africa, and about how devastated you were when your initial plans fell through. Well, lad...you've more than made up for it.

Of course, you're ruined now. Africa is a blood-borne infection that ultimately kills most of us who've fallen prey to her...and the only treatment is to return. The antidote can be found in the woodsmoke of a mopane fire, the twinkling of the Southern Cross in the night sky, or the flinty smell of the dusty veldt.

Unfortunately, there's only one "first safari" per customer...but from the looks of it you did it properly!

Mark

Your amazing review has me quite interested.
My wife & daughter would be interested in tagging along-is there enough for them to do? The daughter does hunt, but this would be too much.
I didn't see any photos of the lodge. Do you have any pictures or comments regarding the facilities/food/staff, etc?
Anything you'd do differently?

That was a fantastic safari you went on. Congrats on all your animals. My son and I did a plains game South Africa hunt a few years ago and it was like yours - absolutely out of this world experience. My hardest animal was the warthog, they are so skittish and nervous, I got mine on the last day, the last 30 minutes of light left. We brought home eleven animals and had all of them shoulder mounted except my Zebra which was done into a rug. The taxidermy bill was shocking to say the least. Photos are great too.

I received my trophies in mid-November, but am just now getting around to organizing everything and displaying it how I want. I had everything done as European mounts, with the exception of a Zebra rug.

11 of my 13 trophies from the trip are displayed in my home office, along with a few other animals from Texas and my modest library. My Gemsbok and Springbok are displayed in our sun room, along with a Red Stag I took a few years ago.

I figured some of you might want to see just how efficient you can get with skull mounts. My office is only 12 ft. x 15 ft. with 8 ft. ceilings so it's certainly not a large space, but I have 20 trophies displayed in what I believe is a tasteful manner. Here are some photos, as well as a "walk through" video.

Amazing how many mounts a taxidermist can get into one big box.
