Hello all, my neighbor brought down some rifles/shotguns/pistols, i need to see what they are worth and see about selling them for her. Is there any recommendations on who can help out on the pricing and possibly sale of these? I am in Little Elm so the closer the better.

I know the pistols are ruger 357 stainless finish 6.5 new model blackhawk and a ruger 44 magnum new model blackhawk 7.5 matt black finish
Mixture of rifles, marlin 30-30, older 22 mag etc. I am still taking inventory to document all the models.

Go to gunbroker.com

Look at completed sale prices of each type firearm you have. That will give you some solid information on market value.

That marlin might be worth some serious money. One sold on Gunbroker a week or so ago for over 10k.

The Marlin might have gained 200% value in the last five years. Like KRoyal, it is most interesting to me to help price. The $10K Marlin was a dispute or shill bid game but in general, the Marlins have done stupid good lately.

"older 22 magnum" sounds very enticing too.

Pass the gravy.

Just keep in mind that gunbroker pricces don't always match local sale prices. I typically sell on GB only when I can't sell locally. For local sale prices, I'd look at what things have or are selling for on Texas Guntrader and here. That will I think give more of an insight IF you are looking to sell something locally. When I am needing to sell something, I generally need money faster than a Gunbroker auction will bring it hence why I'll sell local (not to mention the hassles with shipping). That said, Gunbroker would bring you the most money when selling if you have the time and patience to take good photos, list it, wait for the auction to end, pay fees, Receive payment & FFL Info, pack and ship. If for some reason the buyer's FFL won't do a transfer from an individual, then you'll have added expense of shipping thru a FFL dealer. I make sure to specify they take individual transfers in my listings.. Prices on Marlin's for example can vary depending on the model (saddle ring carbine, Texan, etc.) and pre or post safety. GB is definitely the place to go for selling Marlin's as I would neither buy nor sell them at current prices. While I could never ask someone $1k for a Marlin 30-30 locally, if someone online wishes to pay that much for one I won't judge.

Thanks for the information guys, My neighbor got these guns from her ex when he passed, she will be moving in June and asked if i could look them up and possibly sell them for her. I may just list them on here since majority on here are trustworthy and have always been honest on transactions i have done.

Sounds like she has quite a few pieces. That 57 is going to bring some coin. With that many items, it might be worth it to find a good appraiser and let them do their thing.

Earl always sells quality stuff and what he said above has been my experience as well. Gunbroker will bring you higher sale prices as a general rule right now. But some added expense and time also. If any of them are of collector quality, they need a big audience to realize the best price. If they are simply "working man's" firearms, local sales will get them sold quicker. And, for collector quality sales, condition and rarity is extremely important and completed Gunbroker sales will give you a fairly good idea of what you should expect. Good luck with the process.
