Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

I much prefer Kauai. Maui was just way too touristy for me.

I really enjoy Hawaii and have thought about purchasing a place on the Big Island. I just looked at prices on Zillow…..I am out…..your looking at over 1 million for nice homes.

I’d like to move either to the Colorado mountains or around Wyoming or Idaho.

Our neighbors daughter and son in law just moved over to one of the Islands and it cost them 1 million for an 1800 s.ft. house. Not on the beach either.

Yes, I would like to hunt the Wild Bulls in the rain forest on the Big Island, I but have no other desire to go there.
Went there on my honeymoon. Some people call it paradise, I call it the land of the 20 dollar hamburger. In Kona, in 2008, a 3 bedroom 2 bath house that was basically a doublewide in size and construction was 400K.
I will also never live in a state or country that when you move there, as soon as you get off the plane, you have to go straight to the local police department and register your firearms. Also has the highest electricity cost and the highest gasoline cost the last time I checked. I will never live there.

I searched anything over 10 acres in Maui on Realtor.com, no thanks. We enjoy our land, no way I would live on a tiny lot (no matter where on planet earth it is) or give $5 mil for 20 acres.

I lived on Oahu. Wouldn’t live on Maui. I’d move back to Oahu or Kauai. We were talking just the other day about moving back, old job is still waiting on me. Just have to accept it’s a lifestyle change, you won’t have all the stuff you have here. Culture is different though, not as much of a rat race with trying to keep up with your neighbor. Bought a $4k Hyundai, couple of surfboards, speargun, rods and reels and a small kayak. Free/cheap entertainment and a tough decision on what to do every weekend. If you’re the type of person that needs to have the nice cars and houses, it’s definitely not for you unless you’ve got a few million to spare. Wife and I loved it and I wouldn’t trade those memories for anything. I can say I’ve surfed the north shore, swam with sharks, fished Pearl Harbor, blue water spear fishing swimming with whales, watched countless sunsets over the pineapple fields, BBQ on the beach, seen 40+ ft waves. It’s life, live it to the fullest.

I got fresh tuna for $4/pound, free avocados, some soy and wasabi. I ate better on $10 than tourist on $100. Pays to make friends and know people.

Yes, the fish is definitely fresh and reasonable at some places. We found a restaurant with a great appetizer menu where a nice plate of sushi was around $5. Hawaii gets better the more you learn how it operates. As a tourist on a week-long trip, you usually pay a high premium for everything. You have to get out and drive around to see how the locals make it work, but even the grocery stores out of the tourist zones are expensive. Everything not grown or produced on the island is shipped in and it creates a significant increase in price on many standard goods. Our last trip there was 3 weeks starting on the Big Island, then midway through moving over to Maui. We had a great time and could probably live there, but it wouldn't be my first choice.

If that’s where you want to live then go for it, you only live once. Money comes and goes but memories live forever. I’d rather live on a 2,000 acre high fenced ranch in Oklahoma and have my food flown in from the destination of my choice but to each their own.

Nah, we shipped our heeler over. He didn’t have to quarantine. Got a couple shots and a letter, put him on a plane and picked him up when he landed.
