We have been using Zignature foods for many years but the price seems to keep going up. Now it is bout 3 bucks a pound. We like it because both dogs will eat it and the other foods we used caused my lab to scratch constantly. Are there any inexpensive dog foods that don’t cause allergic reactions in dogs?

It all depends on the dog. I switched over to Victor from Purina Pro Plan due to pricing. Feed store in Blanco had Victor for $10 a bag cheaper, so I drove over to get 6 bags. At the checkout I was informed it went up $6 a bag with the new shipment, 15%! It was a 90 mile round trip, pretty much shot the savings.

We have used Pedigree wet dog food for 17 years...but I have small dogs. My last dog will be 17 in June and she has gotten a bit picky since her brother died in February 2021. I usually give her Pedigree or Cesar and mix in some salt free green beans or corn. She's weird.

Purina. Got it free when I was in NSTRA.

used Nutrish for awhile, after reading online it, its not exactly great for your dogs. Been getting Diamond Naturals Dogs seem to like it. vet said its good. Not the best out there but a lot better than others They also appear to have more regular and "normal" looking bowel movements since we switched.PLENTY of energy. $41 for 40lb bag.

We used to use Bill Jac, then the wife decided she wanted to change to Victor and now she has decided to use the H‑E‑B brand. I liked Bill Jac and Victor. Depending on the type you want, you can get Victor on Amazon and it was pretty much the same price as my local feed store. So if you use Victor and need to drive a long way to get it, Amazon may be an option.
Thanks, Rich

Muenster Milling is too (their owner at it for 30 days, can't be too bad).

Tractor Supply was $58 a 40lb sack for the Victor brand I use. It was the most expensive place to get it. I didn’t mind the drive to get Victor, had it been the $40 a sack they quoted me a few days earlier. The feed store I usually frequent is up to $53 a sack. Thanks Joe.

I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

All I can say is CHEWY is the bomb. Very competitive pricing and the big bags just show up on my front porch when ever I tell them. Been with them for 8 years and will never change I hope!

I used Eukanuba for decades and always had good healthy dogs. About 3 months ago I switched to Purina Pro Plan though. I didnt want to switch but Eukanuba slashed their product lines to the point that I only had 2 options available at my pet store and the price climbed up to around $70 a bag so I said "nope". Not going to pay that kinda money for a food that really does not fit my dogs size, age, or breed.
Since switching to Purina Pro Plan my dog does not let that food sit in her bowl all day like she did with the Eukanuba. Its gone as soon as I put the bowl on the floor.
I would highly recommend you dont switch cold turkey though. I started the switch by blending the two foods 70/30 then 50/50 then 30/70 before going 100% to the Purina. My dog has a very sensitive stomach and blending the two foods prevented any kind of issues with the switch.

I think this would be closest to what they are currently eating. I used Eukanuba for decades and always had good healthy dogs. About 3 months ago I switched to Purina Pro Plan though. My dog has a very sensitive stomach and blending the two foods prevented any kind of issues with the switch. Sounds like several of you use Pro Plan. Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Keep them coming!

I’ve had a lot of dogs and never had one with allergies or sensitive stomach. Maybe they just never said anything about it?

Just switched ours to science diet. Hopefully it helps with the weight some. We were using Purina and the entire time he was on it just gained weight. And we measure his food so no idea why he was gaining on it.

We feed our large dog Whole Earth farms. Haven’t had any issues with it yet. Started feeding it to our old small dog that had bad skin allergies and it helped her a lot in her older years.
