Also, the 336 and Model 94 were late model Lever Guns. They were originally designed as high capacity firearms chambered in pistol calibers to complement a revolver. Huh? The Marlin 1894 (94) was introduced in 1893 as a new model for the next year and was offered in three rifle cartridges. They added more rifle cartridges along the way. It wasn't until 1969 that Marlin made a short action 1894 for use with straight wall handgun rounds (.44 MAG). Then Marlin added .357 MAG and .41 MAG in the '70's and '80's. I did mean the 1894 Marlin, sorry. I addressed your incorrect statements regarding the Marlin 1894 as well.
Pass the gravy.

I wonder if those complaining about 336 accuracy have tried accurizing modifications to the gun or developed loads.

I wonder if those complaining about 336 accuracy have tried accurizing modifications to the gun or developed loads. Your point is well taken. Still, don't lose sight of the fact that comparing a lever gun to something made for resting on a $400 tripod or the open window of a $4,000 box stand is like comparing apples to oranges. The flat shape of the forearm on a Model 94 was created so that the rifle would ride more firmly in a scabbard resting against the side of a horse. Some might even go so far to say it was designed for a different breed of shooters and hunters than we have today.

I wonder if those complaining about 336 accuracy have tried accurizing modifications to the gun or developed loads. It sure don’t hurt to loosen the barrel bands. I think most will do 2 moa with just that much, maybe better if you hold or rest on the receiver but I like to grab the forearm.

Can do a lot of accuracy work and get them to be half as accurate as an out of the box bolt gun, that cost half as much. Also not a real good reason to get too carried away with half moa accuracy for a cartridge that runs out of steam at 200 yards

And you’ll have one more bolt gun to complement the rest of them. Sounds pretty dull and boring if you ask me.
Nobody said bolt guns are bad, I bet every poster in this thread has a good accurate bolt gun and most probably have an AR too.
But hey if you would rather add a savage axis, or very bottom end AR, then a lever gun, be my guest. I’d rather save a little more and get a 336 Texan deluxe, Ruger Marlin, or something else nice.

I have typed this out and deleted a couple of times over the last few days, and may delete this as well. In these days when our rights are under attack, why are we dividing ourselves? Who cares if I like my raggedy arsed old 336 that shoots a hand sized group at a 100 yards. It makes ME happy when I shoot it. Conversely, if you want to spend all your time at the range punching holes in paper, more power to ya, just ain't my bag. You just go right ahead and rock on with yo bad self. Just give me the same courtesy when I do my thing.
