I regret some things I did and said over the decades, and I regret some things I didn’t do. They come back and visit me from time to time, when it’s quiet.

A friend once told me that he was happy for three reasons.
He was with the person he wanted to be with.
He was doing what he wanted to do.
And he was living where he wanted to live.

When he told me that, I realized I had struck out on all three.

Not staying in school and getting my Masters. When I graduated Masters while important were just not as important as they are now. After 4-1/2 years of college and being poor I just wanted to work. Work put me on the road 80% and back then online classes did not exist. Then came marriage and kids. My other regrets were buying a Tidecraft and then a Laser. After they came apart I got smart and ordered a Ranger that I kept for 30 years. Then there was buying a 2001 F150 plug spitting Triton 5.7.

Not taking care of my hearing. Tinnitus sux.

Well, one day this dude named Morpheus offered me a choice between red and blue pills …

Also not serving in the military.

I broke my left elbow at age 13 and it has three screws in it. Tried to go into the Marines after graduating high school (had the second highest ASVAB score in my class) and after graduating college, was told no both times.

Probably my biggest regret was getting into the oil and gas business. Don't get me wrong it's been good to me and I love it but there was a time after I got out of the ARMY when all I really wanted was to be a Sheriff's Deputy. Seems like every time I'd head that direction the oil and gas business got in the way and I gave up. The need for money out weighed the need to fulfill a dream.

Knee kept me out.

Not buying several pieces of real estate I have wanted to over the years. I could have retired. I love my wife to no end but she is the reason we didn’t. It bugs me sometimes.

that first time my wife cried when I wouldn't let her buy something (and not sticking to my guns)

Staying with Beth when I should have pursued Susan or Marla (or actually anyone else).

Don’t get me wrong. My bad choices made me who I am and I think that’s a pretty decent person, husband, and father.

No regrets. Look forward in time and live.

Not taking the life of a man that I knew was a very bad person. He was a pervert, a child molester, a true hateful spirit with his brain fried on drugs. I could have removed him from this earth and no one would have ever found him. Instead, I tried to help him.

He ended up hurting two of my kids later.

I regret that very much.

Life and its choices have been very good to me so there are no regrets.

Day I got this,,,

Not saving money earlier in life. I could be 3 years from retiring instead of 10 years.

X 2 .....and my back.

I don’t do regret……a waste of time that can’t change the past…..

My Dad was a huge Rangers fan. He watched every game on TV. My regret is that I never took him to a game. I didn't try to take him until it was too late when he couldn't walk very far. When I was a kid he'd take me to Burnett field to watch games. He loved baseball.

There are a couple things looking back that I feel like I should have done differently, made some poor choices, etc. Then I wonder if changing those things would have altered the course of my life.

I am extremely thankful and happy with where I am today.

I love my job, I love my wife and family, I have great friends, I love my life.

So no regrets

One thing I feel I need to get on top of now or I feel I will regret is my health. I am 50 pounds overweight, high cholesterol and I want to see my kids live to an old age and spend time with my grandkids one day.

Maybe making this post will get my butt in gear.

Maybe just taking a few more chances on a few situations, (jobs, girls, etc) but at the same time i wouldnt have the life i have now and I do love it...

Regret not going Warrant Officer when I was in the Army when I had the chance.
