On boy, we have a pretty good front coming in on Wed-Thurs up here. Hope it doesn't send high winds down that way before they get a handle on it.

That's about 15 miles NNE of my lease. It's stupid dry out there right now. Hope they get it contained. NW wind right now shifting to E tonight then back to S tomorrow may help blow it back on itself.

This fire (known as the Crews Gap Fire) started about 8 miles west of us and has burned to the SE...the closest it's been to us has been about 5 miles. Yesterday's winds were running about 22 mph and as dry as it is here, about all you can do is protect structures the best you can.

The last status report I saw showed 7000 acres (right at 11 square miles) burned and containment at 70%. This is a BAD one...

Bless you for asking. No, with the winds holding out of the north half of the compass, this ought to stay south and west of us. The wind isn't forecast to come out of the SW (our "danger" direction) until tomorrow morning and hopefully things will be under control by then...

Lord, this country needs rain BADLY. I just got back from taking some beeves to the sale barn...they can't graze on grass that I ain't got!

This entire area is a fire waiting to happen. Dry with too much high weeds and grass. Lot of ranchers plowing fire lanes along fence lines.

For anyone interested in this area, the Crews Gap Fire is ANYTHING but over and done with. Evacuation has been issued for Glen Cove (west of Coleman on 153).

Despite all the reports showing it as 95% contained, high winds this morning caused reignition and the 30+ MPH winds quickly built this back into a demon. I understand that several homes have been involved; prayers up for anyone in the path. Thankfully, we're just far enough away and the wind is shifting ever so slightly...

Just so you know, a helluva lot of wildlife trapped behind high fences paid one helluva price this week. If you hadn't ever considered that scenario before, you might give it just a moment.

Responsibilities come with being granted dominion over the beasts of the field...

Stay safe everyone. And pray for RAIN.

For a fact. By my count (from the TWIRS), there's more than 22000 acres involved within an hour's drive of here. That's 35 square miles...

Boy that's the truth. Not something you think about but the risk is there if you live in Texas.

Came through there last night-they shut 153 down east of Winters and diverted everybody south to Talpa/HWY67.

153 re-opened about midnight last night. The fire is now listed at 80% contained.

We've got a 90% chance of some rain Monday. Hopefully we'll get some relief...this is as bad as 2011.

Prayers for all the folks effected by other fires in the area.
