I'm tire kicking a new truck this year. I'm not in a hurry, so probably not looking to buy one off the lot. Other than finding ones to check out in person, I'm sure I would be ordering one in advance. I have not even begun to research my three options on make yet, so to get me started......
Those of you that have researched or bought one recently, which of the three, F150, Ram 1500, or Toyota Tundra would you want and why over the others?
Or which of the three would you not want and why?

Diesel 1500 Chevy is is where I am leaning. I want a 2011 with a 76mm turbo/250 shot on two stages and a 4l80E but that may not happen. Lets be honest i probably will not

Which one will give you the biggest bang for your fuel dollar?

Which one will give you the biggest bang for your fuel dollar? You would think fuel cost would be a high priority right now and I will certainly weigh that in with the overall picture, but it's not my #1 priority. I'm retired and don't drive back and forth to work every day.

I buy/bought Ford. Best fuel economy with gasoline engines, 20s mpg. Best seller for many reasons I guess. Kinfolks own Dodge.....seems 16-18 is tops for 5.7.....I got a sour stomach over owning 2 Chrysler products in past. Toyota is Toyota. Who can argue their quality/longevity. MPG on those I've seen 16+/-. My next CAR will be Toyota
Fairness........The Ford does have the smaller v8 engine of the 3.
Bought mine from a dealer that sells Ford, Dodge and Chebberlay. Said they sell Ford numbers equal to the other two combined.

We're starting to see a lot more Dodges out here in the Basin, GMC's and Fords have pretty well dominated this area for years. We bought 3 Dodges last year, none have over 30,000 on them so hard to really judge them yet. One truck that's been making a good showing out here has been the Toyota Tacoma's, they seem to keep running and you can get a lot of work out of them. Don't let their size fool ya they seem to handle these old rough roads as good are better than their big brother. The Tundra is the one that's kind of getting the cold shoulder, bunch of the boys bought them for a while but they're not anymore. Biggest complaint was suspension problems and electrical, they seem to shake themselves into the shop on a regular basis. I'm looking for a new truck now and there's a good chance I'll get a Tacoma. They're not a good highway truck but they sure handle the rough stuff well. They always say if you want to know what's the best truck in the oilfields just look at what the contract pumpers drive. They put a lot of miles on a truck every year and a large majority of the miles are off road. My GMC see's about 95% of the 100+ miles a day with all but around 8 miles of it off road. It's fixing to hit 100,000 pretty soon and been fairly trouble free with the exception of the fuel system. There's a canister type filter next to the gas tank the takes fumes back to the motor and when it gets clogged it makes filling up a real pain in the azz, it keeps kicking back. They had another problem that GMC couldn't fix but we did. Instead of a gas cap they have that flipper plate and it was notorious for letting dirt get into the gas tank and it would clog the filter on the low pressure pump in the tank. I've had to replace a half dozen low pressure pumps. We replaced the flipper system with a regular gas cap system and ended that problem. The flipper system can't handle these old dusty roads, everyone of our GMC's had the same problem. Only other problem with the GMC's was the 20 inch aluminum rims, I've cracked 7 of them so far. I'll never run 20's on an off road vehicle again.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

F150 Power Boost…the built in generator, gas mileage and towing capacity make this a winner…my brother owns a Ford dealership so I have driven several and ran my RV at the lease off one this season….

Just go drive them and buy the one you like the best. They’re all pretty equal theses days.

Is there a cap for these or did you have to replace the filler neck. Lots of dust from the roads where I live. My Ford Escape has the capless filler and I hate it. Thanks.
I like my Ram 1500. It gets about 20 MPG with plenty of power. Never thought I'd own a Chrysler product, but 88K miles and no issues.

I'd lean toward the Tundra but I'd give the Ford a good look.

Sniper I was in the car business for 20+ years and my final gig was a used car manager at a major dealer. Part of my position was to re-hab the cars to resale them so I know a little about used vehicles. One thing I know is too many folks are brand loyal and often give false information because of that loyally. When we got a truck in for trade in the first thing I did was to get a full service check on it and see what repairs it needed and the cost of the repairs. A lot of times I ended sending the trucks to wholesalers or auctions if the repair costs were too high and cut too much into my profit margin. From that experience I would rank buying a used truck in the following order from the lowest to highest. Dodge, Chevy, Nissan, GMC, Ford, Toyota is how I would rank them. If you looking at a super duty Ford I would rank it above the Toyota. Hope that helps.
BTW I totaled my 2012 Tundra in October and was forced to buy a replacement and like everyone knows this is not the time to buy a vehicle. Because of my years in the business I have connections with all the above brands and from my experience I bought another Tundra.
If you have any questions on how to determine if it is a good vehicle or not PM me and we can discuss them then.

We go on and on about trucks on here and there will never be a definitive winner.
I think the first thing a person needs to ask themselves is (What's it's future look like)? (What will be normal diving conditions).
How many miles a year will it see off road? What kind of roads? Is gas mileage a concern? Carry a lot of tools/weight? Pull a lot of trailers? Need horsepower and torque?
Start asking yourself some of these questions and you can eliminate vehicles real quick.

I’ve driven 150s most. Driving a tundra now.
I’d go back to F-150 5.0 in a heartbeat. The tundra I just don’t love. Can’t place it (besides the fuel economy) add the fact that Tundra rolled out a new engine wrapped around a redesigned truck that is not getting rave reviews. Between those two trucks it’s a Ford all day.
Now I’ve never driven a dodge. But I’d price a Ford and a dodge then go drive the dodge if the price was worth the look.

Go wwith the Ford Hybrid. From what I've seen on TV you can run your house for a month plugged into the electric part.
