Hello everyone! For those of y’all who have hunted the Jicarilla and the Mescalero Apaches, which do ya’ll prefer to hunt? As far as the guide situation and just the overall hunt experience. Thanks!

Are you wanting to hunt elk or deer?

First, you have to get on a waiting list. I talked to a guide on the Jicarilla. He told me it’s a 5-7 year wait. Good luck getting on either of them.

gun control means hitting what you are aiming at!

Call Acoma also. You shouldn’t have a issue with any three, just watch your P’s and Q’s. You aren’t Governed by NM state law and your peers when you cross that Res Border, being respectful goes along ways

I agree with BOBO, any of them should be fine for a cow hunt.

Going to either of those World Class Elk or Mule Deer hunting destinations for to harvest a cow.
This is similar to driving 10 hours and ordering a hot dog at The Capital Grille.

They are normally a lot cheaper then most LO vouchers/tag. They also boost damn near a 100% success.

There are no public land NR elk cow tags in NM, and the Reservations do what ever they want.

AFAIK there is no such thing as a waiting list for a Jicarilla cow hunt. It’s an annual draw with a very high chance of drawing. You pay a $50 app fee, and if drawn, you pay the full tag fee. You would also then pay a daily guide fee on top of that. I personally don’t care much about antlers, so I’m all about cow hunts, high success rates, and a full freezer.
