Pistol or rifle? There’s a ton to sift through. I have a Sig Romeo 5, a Holosun, and Primary Arms, All on gas guns. Holosun makes a great product. Romeo is like $100 all the time. Bushnell makes a budget one. TR-25 maybe? Then there’s more expensive models that I haven’t saved up for.

Looking forward to others input.

As others said if you want something to trust your life too - Aimpoint or Trijicon. If you are wanting to shoot/plink etc. then the Sig and Holosun optics will get the job done. They also have a bit higher end alternatives in the Sig Romeo4/Holosun HS515cm these too I think are worthy red dots but not as good as Aimpoint or Trijicon (and they are Chinese made if that matters).

Leupold Delta Pro. Have one on my Delta Elite. Easy battery change and comes on with motion, plus the warranty is amazing as I am sure you are aware.

I have an Aimpoint T2 micro, a Trijicon MRO, a Trijicon RMR, a Burris FF3, an PA 3x prism, and I just ordered a PA 1x micro prism. I think they all have their place and advantages/disadvantages. Personally I bought the new PA micro prism because of it having a better reticle for it's purpose on a rifle and that it is etched which means it will still work without a live battery

I freely admit that red dots are not my favorite optic. I prefer a low powered scope. Something around a 1.5-4X.
BUT I do have an Aimpoint Pro on the AR my wife keeps handy. The battery life is measured in years so I can change a battery once a year (her birthday) and leave it turned on 24/7. As she has practiced, all she needs to do is grab it, flip off the safety, and fire!
The Aimpoint is a bit pricey when compared to most red dots, but I do have faith in its reliability.

As others have said, Aimpoint for reliability. Otherwise, Vortex has some options.

Why is Aimpoint better than EOTech?

Crisper single dot on the aim point and personally I believe it’s faster

I don’t know if they are. Seems like about 7 to 10 years ago eotech had a few issues with some of their optics. From what I saw they fixed the issues and did everyone right by letting them send theirs back for a brand new one. (Even if it’s been past the “cut off date”). I have one with a flip-to-side 3X magnifier mounted in front of it and It works great!

I’ve never owned an Aimpoint so I can’t really speak to them. But I’ve never heard anyone bad mouth them, and they have been around a while.

I’d go somewhere you can put your hands/eyes on both of them and pick the one you like. I bet you would be happy with either one.

If I want a top of the line red dot, it’s going to be an Aimpoint. For a decent one I’ll buy a Sig Romeo. I own both brands and have had good experiences.

I do not understand the lack of love for Leupold? Aim point is an awesome optic, but a 2 year warranty. Leupold is peace of mind...even if you bust it Leupold will stand behind it.

In general Aimpoints are bomb proof and you won’t ever need a warranty. I’ve ran both a DP Pro and Aimpoint on my guns and prefer the aimpoints. I have an astigmatism in my eye and red dots look like a blob to me. The DP Pro was terrible to my eye. I had the amber triangle reticle and couldn’t even hardly make out it was a triangle. I’ve switched exclusively to 1x prism sights on my rifles only red dot I have left is the one on my carry gun.

And if they ever figure out to stuff a prism sight into an RMR footprint I’ll never own another red dot.

I love my Leupold RDS on my ar pistol.

Just asking, so if you spend 400 plus on an optic and smash it or drop it too bad. Peace of mind to me is worth it..I can smash the Leupold and it will be replaced for free. Bomb proof is actually a wrong statement, are they glass?

The Delta pro is crystal to me. This is on a pistol and love it.

Until you’ve dropped your gun on your optic, smashed the optic into the threshold of a door, and just generally abuse the [censored] out of it, you’ll never understand how bomb proof an AimPoint PRO really is. Hell, this past hunting season I took mine off and put the thermal on, the PRO bounced around in the bed of the truck for a few days until I looked back there to see what was making all that noise.

My thought is that if its good enough for military and police then its plenty good for me. So thats Aimpoint, Trijicon and not Leupold.

I have this on one of my SBR rifles. Works perfectly and retains zero. A little pricey though.

Besides the fact that SuperDuty is a walking advertisement for Vortex while shilling for Leupold, I forgot to mention that I have an EOtech as well.

Downsides of an EOTech are battery life, granulated/pixelated holographic image, and significantly chunkier.

There was a huge issue with eotech POI shifting in temp swings. They were sued by the government as well. I also recall reading an article that basically explained that eotech was aware of the POI shift and still sent these optics to our soldiers. That was enough for me to choose to never support them by buying their products, and there are much better choices with better battery life and durability.

Yep, they gave refunds to just about everyone too. I had all my receipts from the three Eotech units that I owned. Full price was refunded plus any shipping and taxes.
