Looking for any to share their thoughts, opinions, theories, facts . . .
Thoughts on offering free choice corn as a "constantly available attractant" (understaning the nutritional value difference between corn and protein)?
Any reasons not to offer corn free choice?

Well, I can't offer any scientific advice like these deer gurus on here, but what I do know is I built a free choice deer feeder for my lease a couple years ago. It sat for 6 weeks without a deer touching it. As soon as I switched it out with a regular spinner type, I had deer on camera immediately. I was using a feeder just like the one I built on another place and the deer ate 50 gallons a week. I can't figure out why the deer on this place won't touch a free choice feeder.

I would not feed corn free choice for any amount of time. Eating a large amount of corn can affect the digestive process and cause a flush of lactic acid in their stomach. It can cause foundering. We get into a severe drought and it could lead to a lot issues.
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?

Coons would empty out a free choice corn feeder at my place. They hit protein hard enough.
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

I have 68 acres and there are larger properties around me. The deer seem to spend most of their time on my neighbors land, but every year I see more and more of them on my land as I remove more trees and underbrush. I've also had a friend shooting hogs with a lot of success. Less hogs = more deer!!! My food plot and feeder have a single strand of hot wire around it about 12 inches off of the ground. Hogs and racoons hate it and I never see them in my food plot or eating my corn. Crows and squirrels are the only ones that get it besides the deer. My corn feeder is a Redneck T post model that lets the deer eat as much as they want, when they want. I go through a 40 pound bag every week, all year round. From the pictures we get, they eat for a few minutes and then wonder off. I've never had a deer just stay there and keep eating. I think it's a snack them, something that they enjoy in small amounts. What I like most about it is there isn't any corn on the ground that gets walked into the mud, or just sits there and rots. https://www.amazon.com/REDNEK-Redneck-Outdoors-T-post-Gravity/dp/B00DPT3YAGThe guy that shoots the hogs has two Multree tripod feeders that are outside my food plot area for the hogs. Deer can eat the corn to, and sometimes they do, but mostly that corn just lays there and rots when the hogs don't show up for awhile. He said that he has watched them through his thermal walk right past his feeders and head to mine. It might also be that I buy my corn from the feed store, and I buy the yellow sacks for livestock, not the camo sacks for deer feeders. The cost is a buck more per bag, but I don't have any rotten corn in the yellow sacks, and I always find something wrong with the corn in the camo sacks. He buys the cheap stuff for the hogs. I also have an area where I spread Black Magic every couple of months. It went from a wet area that was the last to dry after it rained, to a pond that's a foot deep and holds water. I just keep adding the Black Magic, and the deer keep coming back to it. https://www.amazon.com/Evolved-Habitat-Deer-Black-Magic/dp/B000HHM7SY/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2XJL9RL4NW1ES&keywords=black+magic+deer+attractant&qid=1646835968&sprefix=black+magic+deer+at%2Caps%2C130&sr=8-3 ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2022/03/full-53476-339671-272506781_10227417093675727_8683079454719182668_n.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2022/03/full-53476-339672-stc_1831.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2022/03/full-53476-339673-stc_0687.jpg)
