I turned 50 last September so I told myself that after hunting season was going to get serious and lose 70 pounds. That would put me at the weight I was when I was 23-25 years old. At that time I was 5’9 and 160-170. In January I was 5’7 1/2” and 243 pounds.

After discussing Sota Weight Loss with my wife we decided I would sign up. This was a huge decision as it isn’t cheap. But I bit the bullet and since January 17th, I’ve gone from 243 to 216. I haven’t weight this much since 2011. I know I have a long way to go but I must say, this is the best decision I’ve ever made for myself.

Not only have I lost weight, but being a Type 2 diabetic, I have been off my diabetic meds for over a month. My previous A1c was 6.8. I had my physical this week and my A1c was down to 5.8. I honestly can’t wait to see my endocrinologist next month.

I saw a previous post from last year regarding Sota so I had to let everyone know about my experience. I highly encourage anyone that’s been on the fence about joining to take the leap and join.

Great news. Whatever it takes. Keeping it off will be the key. Just remember when you hit your target weight, how much it cost you ($$$$$$) to get there and how much hard work on your part it took. Maybe it will help you keep it off. It only gets harder as we age. BTW, I hate their commercials on the radio. Keep fighting the good fight.

I spoke with them , just couldn't justify the $$ but it is a proven company.

For me , there was a lot more for me to lose weight than just dieting. I have screwed myself so much with the lifetime of yo-yo, It is mostly mental for me. I'm seeing a dietitian and a psychiatrist working on a different way to look at things.

I've been doing it since July, lost 68 pounds but it has been a VERY tough struggle for me. I'm not one who can lose weight and then be done and never put it back on. I need constant support from my program. I think it will be for the rest of my life.

I'll be 70 March 18th

I’m the same way. One of the biggest selling points to me was that after I reach my goal weight, I get free maintenance for life. I finally told myself I had to do something and stick to it.

This is coming from a guy that competed in bbq & steak competitions. And burgers are my favorite meal. Oreos and milk happened before bed about four night a week.

I would like to get down to about 200, so I am trying to drop 10-15 pounds. So I'm not a SOTA candidate. I hear the commercials all the time, how much does the program cost?

I heard $5k being bounced around. I think it is a one time fee.

IMO the secret is activity. I have run 15 miles per week for the past 42 years. The secret there (for me at least) is I have had a running buddy all those years. We keep each other accountable.

Walking 3-4 miles three or four times a week can be just as effective.

I pretty much eat whatever I want but I keep my portions small - in fact rarely do I come close to cleaning my plate. I am 69 and weigh what I did in high school

To the OP congrats on getting where you are - it is a lifestyle change for sure

Why don't people just do Keto or do just don't just skip breakfast and only eat a good lunch and dinner or combo. Thats cost zero dollars and is highly effective.

Depends on body and family history. I walk 21 miles per week, If if start eating high carbs and sweets my body will put on weight, I live a Keto lifestyle, every now and again I will eat anything I want.

tlk for me the secret has been diet and nutrition intake, not activity. I busted my [censored] regularly with a personal trainer for almost two years all while eating like chit. I made performance and strength gains, but didn’t lost much body fat.

After getting more active and pairing that with much better nutrition (intermittent fasting, smaller portions, better meal choices), the weight finally started coming off. I really believe it’s 80/20 nutrition/activity.

serious question:

What caused you to shrink 1 1/2" from 18 to 50?

I lost 2" went from 6' 1" to 5" 11, I say old age and your joints collapsing on themselves.

Yelp 100% diet and fasting. I can cut 30lbs in 90 days just in diet, fasting and portions.

If I eat like crap and still hit weights hard I still maintain or grow weight, my density increases but the chunk is still there.

I’m at 250 now and been doing really high HIT weight work outs 4x a week and biking 20miles. About to change diet back to portion and no grain carbs or starch so I can be under 220 by Sept. one of these days I’m going to learn to watch my weight year round.

I’m going to really miss chips, hot sauce and Crumbl cookies for next 90 days

If it hasn't gone broke, they will have raised the eligibility age for Soc. Sec. benefits to 80 by the time you reach 70, so you got that going for you. up
