Killed this hog last night. It is one I had on video from a few months ago.

I noticed then that it had no tail and no ears and was being noticeably shunned by the others in the group it was with at the time.

I examined the hog closely this morning in better light.

The hog had been castrated....it's tail cut off (clean cut was obvious) both ears were missing from having been 'crushed'. The ears were so badly damaged that they became necrotic and fell off. The damage was all the way up to the skull.

There is no doubt in my mind this is the work of Hog Doggers. Who in the hell would deliberately mutilate an animal like that and then turn it loose?

I have no love for Feral Hogs. I've been battling them on my property for over 30 years. But either kill the animal or leave it alone. It sickens me to see this kind of cruelty carried out in the name of 'sport'.

This is yet another (among many) experiences I've had now concerning Hog Doggers. Yes, I know they aren't ALL like that (as some will be quick to come here and point out). But I haven't met a single one of the good ones yet.

I don't think counties that pay bounties for ears or tails are helping with this problem either.

Intentionally mutilating live animals is just plain wrong, and illegal.

I bust my butt to get up and check traps early, just so the darn things aren't freaked out too long. This is indeed sickening.

Humm.....I never thought of hog dogs doing that. One of the neighbors behind us has hogs in his pasture that have had the ears removed. I had just assumed they were marking them so people wouldn't shoot them thinking they were feral(they look feral). I have the son on game camera, several years ago, running hog dogs on my place.

Surely, it is understood that the Ears and Tails are mean't to represent a DEAD hog and the bounty is that person's reward for such? Or maybe I just don't understand what stellar economists they are. Getting the MOST out of each pig. Bounty for the Ears and Tail AND still have the pig out there for later.



So is running their dogs wherever the hell they want to, cutting fences, etc...but that doesn't seem to stop some of them, right?

I can see castrating them Bar Hogs are good eating and it keeps them from breeding, but the ears and tail being removed is ridiculous.

Not only is it supposed to be for a dead hog, but from the county in question. Some counties make you sign a document attesting to that.

Only scum would resort to this type of treatment.

Looked at some property a few weeks ago in OK. There were hog diggers on it illegally when we showed up. IMO hog diggers need to be hit with both trespassing and wildlife harassment at a minimum if caught on someone else's property. And the dogs can go to.
