Most on the Forum are too young to remember, but us old farts do and will chuckle. I love my coffee black, but every once in a while give in to temptation. This stuff is crack in a cup!! Back away from the coffee pot slowly.

Every so often when a group of us guys get together we make CRat coffee for nostalgia purposes. From the C-Rat meal packages, it would be a mix of instant coffee, hot cocoa mix and extra cream and sugar with a dash or 2 of Tabasco. Sometimes we would add some Hershey chocolate bars. But those usually were saved for icing a pound cake..

Dogcatcher brought back memories. In Korea I would save two or three MRE packets, they included instant coffee, cocoa, sugar, creamer, maybe tea and put them all into a canteen cup with hot water to drink on one of their colder nights. Was a treat but strong black coffee is all I drink now. Funny how conditions can affect your taste. In Korea I would also put a tin of potted meat on the tent stove and eat it with crackers. Tasted great and I loved it as a treat. I guess the fat was needed to balance the cold because when I tried the same in the states one bite made me want to throw up.
