What is your preference for handgun lubricants for slides specifically?

Grease, lubriplate, Montanan extreme, nickel anti sieze..
Oil does nothing but attract dirt.
If it’s a glock or polymer, I’d use some spray Teflon and that’s it. It’s dry and doesn’t attract dirt.
1911’s I use grease once they are “broken in” (500 rounds)

Lubriplate and 2 stroke motor oil. Or transmission fluid. Or 90 weight. Or whatever was in the goody bag from the last match I went to.
It really doesn’t matter.

It really doesn’t matter. This. If you're frequent with your maintenance, it doesn't matter.

Dan Wesson mandates Kroil and FP-10 ONLY on their black Duty Coat finish.
Other than the Dan, I use about EVERY one EVER made. Probably have 50 different lubes in my box.
I have really not been able to tell the difference in any. I have pistols which sit for a year or more, cocked and locked without touching them. I will take them to the range direct from its hiding place (shhh, don't tell) and shoot it. Never had an FTF or any malfunction on the first killing shot or the ones after.

Oil does nothing but attract dirt. And the 4 you mentioned don't? Any lubricant that you apply will attract dirt, more so if you are very liberal with the lubricant. If you want it to be slick and avoid attracting dirt, dust, pocket lint, send it to Walter Birdsong. I have Auto-5s that haven't been cleaned or lubricated in years.

Wow I haven’t heard Birdsongs name mentioned in a long time. I had an AR coated by him years ago..he seemed like a great and interesting guy. It sat in his office and we both told stories for an hour or so. Anyway I use this stuff..... https://hobooil.net/I think it’s really just tobacco spit in a bottle because it smells like Copenhagen to me but it works

Your right everything attracts dirt, with the looser tolerance of the plastic pistol it just gets gummy faster in my opinion that’s why I spray them with Teflon, I also spray my bolt on ar15 with Teflon, but everything else gets grease Oil works good for breaking in a 1911, oil works fine as well you can use anything really.. something is better than nothing. Mobile 1 Eng oil is good for shotguns especially during rain.. what I should had went on further to say is grease tends to stay put and where you laid it especially when applied from a syringe.

For slides I always use some sort of grease over oil. Its one of the few parts on a gun that I will use grease on. And brand dont matter to me. My every day carry gun is a Glock. I just dab a little grease on each rail and work it back and forth a few times.

I use Safari Charlie Gun Lube on every part of the firearm that needs lubrication. Rarely use gun grease. I'm not a high volume shooter, so the demands I put on the lubricants I use are pretty light.

Back in "the Day" 1960's
Bullseye shooters soaked their 1911's in Varsol (dry cleaning fluid) this stripped all debris off gun.
Then
Lube with Marvel Mystery Oil
Worked like a charm.

Thanks all. I’m still using a spray can of Rem oil. Thought that there might be some “new and improved “ stuff out there. It looks like spray and wipe is still competent

Hoppes products for years. But switch to CLP for everything but the bore.
If the 2nd amendment was written just to include guns for hunting, why is there not an amendment to protect fishing poles?

So Brother in law, what’s your preference? I’ve shot revolvers since 1975 and just got into the semi’s in the last few years since I retired. I found it easier with revolver’s

At least most of us G.A.S. about keeping our arms clean and lubed
It's hard to find a bad one but some of the "oils" seem to gum more IF left unattended for a longer time.
