Klappenbach and I put out 160 bags of feed yesterday. Drier than all get out down here. Installed electric fence on six pens. Sure hoping it proves effective.

If that was my setup.....I would have the protein feeder in middle of the pen as far from a fence as possible. whistle Then I would fire the interior designer of that pen layout grin

Setting two ground rods 42 inches deep in each pen was the biggest “fun”. That three pound sledge is now my friend.

I put up hog panels with t posts every 4-6 feet. T post inside the wire.

I have not had cows get in after I started doing that.

Your cows may be hungrier.

The cows are real hungry down there. The deeer hunters on my lease near there had 14 feed pens destroyed by the cattle. They are very upset.

The stand and fill looks to be a Lamco.

Yes, a 600 pound Lamco. My bad. I was referencing the protein feeder. Love both of those appliances. All of our seven pens are pretty much set up that way. The protein feeder is easily fed off the tail gate of our P/U's. Our final tally was 53 corn, 78 protein and 24 cottonseed. Two protein and 16 cottonseed were "banked". If not for the easy fill nature of the feeders, it would have consumed a lot of time and put the hurt on our backs and shoulders.

We are just hoping the installation of the electric fence stops the intrusive behaviour of those darn cows. They be hungry and determined. Somes have spent considerable amount of time and money into attempting to keep them away from the feed we put out. Some guys have either had fabricated or purchased four foot tall panels and then set them up. Each ten foot panel purchased was in excess of $90. Another guy ripped out his pens and welded top rail in place and then ran four foot all netting. His pens look something special, if that is what you are in to.

We went gandering around the pasture a little and ran across the next photo. I feel bad for the guy.

Damn this really SUCKS!

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

last weekend of regular season I put out a pallet of protien 24 cottenseed and half a pallett of corn and as of last weekend it was gone, gonna be expensive this year . I want to switch to stand and fill but my not be able to feed and switch feeders this yr. By the way I use the taller pannels and cut three notches for the deer to jump in
