I am really noticing a trend on used gun sales over the past 3 months. Prices were getting lower now the deals are becoming harder to find. Heck two months ago I found a pretty decent deal at a gun show. Now on TGT, here..all private sales seem to be higher and almost stupid.

I am going to the FW gun show this weekend (have not been to the big show in over 5 years) to see if anything can be found. Do not need or want anything but do like deals.

Anyone else notice this? Who else is going to the show?

I’ve noticed. Looking for a hammer Jframe 357 and all the pre locks are $700+. I’ve almost bought a new locked model 60 but decided to wait.

If I have time, I might run to FtWorth. Kid got hockey game in Useless Sat and might drag them to a gun show afterward.

Wholesale has gone up.
Retail has gone up.
Therefore used has gone up.

Firearms are not exempt from the same economics of ammunition, loading components, cars/trucks, fuel, and food.

Since I started buying guns I've always placed a premium on a private party purchase versus one bought at the store; doubly so for firearms that are deemed Politically Incorrect by certain parties. Sometimes there are deals to be had, sometimes you would have been better off staying home unless you just had an afternoon to kill at a gun show.

Look at glock. A year ago pretty easy to buy new for 499. Still a few places at that price but comparing academy prices they are up 100 to 599 on most models now. Thankfully I’m not really looking for anything easily obtainable at the moment but I don’t see it getting better anytime soon. Used prices now were new a year ago.

I have to wonder how many of those first time, panic buyers will decide to sell once things calm down, given that ever happens. A glut of used guns on the market would definitely drive down prices.

With first time buyers in mind, I watched a recent video from a gun store owner who claimed more people trade in their Glock than any other brand because it doesn't have a safety. I'm sure many if not most of those are first time buyers.

A Marlin 60 was $100 three years ago and plain ones are selling for $300 now so it has affected the lower end as well. It's the first time in a long time I can think of where ARs went up, slowly coasted back down, and EVERYTHING else continues to increase.

Pass the gravy.

I along with everyone else have been shaking my head at the recent prices people are asking for their used guns. Last two Ruger M77s I bought I paid 400 and 450 for a few years ago. Now I see them 800-1200 dollars. I ask these people, where'd you come up with this price? "Well, that's what they are going for on gunbroker..." ummmm no. They may be listed for that on GB but look at how many are selling for that on GB. The ones that are selling are people panicking and buying it because it's available. There's a Ruger Scout Rifle listed on TGT right now, used, and he wants 1,000.00 for it. I know the theory of supply and demand but dadgumit.

JM stamped Marlins are being sold for $700.00 to $1,500.00. I saw a Glenfield 30-30 on the TGT for $750.00.

It amazes me that people get butt-hurt because of someone's "asking" price. You have three choices...pay the price, negotiate a cheaper price or walk way with your money in your pocket. People have seemed to have forgotten how to negotiate. YMMV

I saw a Marlin 32-20 yesterday in Odessa at the boat/rv/gunshow for 2850.00. Didn't get butthurt one bit. Didn't try to negotiate, just walked away with my money in my pocket.

I always have a price it’s worth to me in mind. I may go a little over if I really want something. I’ll make my offer and you are welcome to counter. Sometimes we are close others nope. I don’t get mad. I’m sure there are times my offer may offend someone but that’s on them. Maybe it’s way over priced or they are just uneducated on value. Life goes on either way. Sometimes with a new gun others with cash in my pocket still.

I saw a gentleman posted a question about what a firearm was worth on a forum. Six answers said $750. It was listed an hour later for $1000. People want to start high, and tend to stay there!!! frown

A firearm, just like anything else, is worth just exactly what someone will pay for it. Just look what new trucks are going for ! Hint……..I ain’t paying that !

He’d get $1000+ all day long if he’d list on gunbroker. People are cheap on this forum.

THF the cheapest folks on the internet, I’ve said it for years rofl

They don’t want to pay anything for your stuff and want premium for theirs.

There are exceptions but that’s the biggest truth ever spoken here.

I think he's pointing out your sweet double quote.

The stupid buyer thing has turned into stupid seller-itis. Just because one guy sells a pre-safety 336SC for $850 then everyone thinks their 336W with a safety and birch stock that's been dragged behind a truck down a gravel road is worth the same.

Still seems like Marlins have moved the most.

Pass the gravy.

Inflation. Everything is going up in price. I drive for Dollar Tree, in the last year everything has gone up to $1.25 and most of not all of their cleaning supplies have been cut in half by volume. So you’re paying 25 cents more for half the bleach, lol. I would try to get more money for my stuff now too. A ten year old gun probably worth every bit of new price if not more. Guns didn’t go up, the dollar went down!

I would not let my guns go for any price. Well everything has a price mine is too high for any sane person to pay. For my vanilla flavored standard, traditional rifles and shotguns. If I HAD to sell I would ask stupid prices too.

I might be willing to trade even though. But no one wants my ish but me.

Good time to be the seller! That is sure. Unfortunately for me I’m the buyer 75% of the time and yes, they have gone way up for the stuff I usually buy -1911’s
