I'm a Kubota guy have had 2 of them no issues. Skid steer attachments are the only way to go. My current tractor is a 2016 MX 5200 love it. No DEF just DPF filter.

I just spoke with the neighbor. He seems focused on either Kubota or Kioti. Does not want a JD or New Holland or Branson and seems resistant to considering Mahindra but wasn’t clear why. I think he really wants a Kioti and will be sniffing around for one of those package deals that includes a shredder.

I know a few guys who have mahindra and they love them, but the ones I’ve been on seem very underpowered for their hp ratings. It’s hard to go wrong with Kubota. I’ve had very good experiences with them.

It is a RX7320. Has a DPF but no DEF. It was about 10k cheaper than a comparable HP Kubota but price wasn’t the deciding factor.I checked them both out and preferred the kioti. I would have chose it over the Kubota if they were the same price. Kubotas are really well made but generally speaking they are very light for the HP which limits what they can lift and pull.

Because of this I DO NOT let this tractor sit and idle like an older diesel and I operate it at 2000 RPM's. No issues.

I shopped for one for a long time, used was hard to find close so new became more and more practical. Bought a Mahindra 1640 40 HP 4x4 shuttle with a loader and shredder. I’ve put 20 hours on it in less than a month shredding and working on some fence, I’ve been happy with it. They also make hydro models. Cost was 24-25k. If you can find used and act fast there are savings to be had. Mahindra builds a damn solid machine in the small and mid-sized tractors. Easily the heaviest built of any of them out there and with the strongest hydraulics. I bought an 85hp 4x4 new in 2012 and my ONLY regret was not spending another $5k or so on the cab. Baling round bales on an open tractor is HORRIBLE! lol When I upgrade to a cab model it will either be a Mahindra, Case/NH. John Deere and Kubota both build very good machines too but the prices compared to the other two I listed are ridiculous and like I said, looks at the specs on the same size machines and see which one puts more steel and hydraulics into them!
High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

I gently pushed toward Mahindra, but he seems hot for a 35 horse Kioti. Plans to buy it in Terrell, Tx.

I'm a pretty die hard Kubota guy but if I were looking at buying a new tractor, I would definitely give a long look at the Kioti and Mahindra. I think 20-30 plus years ago, when Kubota was just making a name for themselves in the USA, the prices were great compared to other competitors ... now I think their prices have caught up. My dad used to always refer to JD green was a lot of extra money just for that green paint ... Kubota orange has likely caught up these days. They still make a heck of a tractor (and other equipment) but not sure they still have the same bang for the buck they used to have.

I gently pushed toward Mahindra, but he seems hot for a 35 horse Kioti. Plans to buy it in Terrell, Tx. That's where I got my little 35hp Kioti. It's done everything I've asked it to do from spraying (I have a 325 gallon 3pt sprayer), mowing pastures (runs a 6' shredder with ease; ran my FILs 8' just fine...just prefer to baby it), tons of loader work, and moving round bales (heaviest I've unloaded and put out were right around 1800 lbs - and honestly without loaded tires it was really pushing it...even with loaded tires realistically all that tractor can handle). It's a very capable tractor for it's size. Everything is decently thought out and it's easy to service/change fluids and I greatly appreciate the loader controls being a joystick mounted at the hip vs the stupid [censored] long stick on the loader frame that Kubota uses on the lower end models. The HST pedals are also "normal" vs the stupid banana pedal on HST Kubota (I think they're still using them). The only negative for me personally is I hate the 3pt adjustment. On this series of tractor Kioti used a cheap position control valve and it's a lot more jumpy than what I'm used to on bigger tractors - namely Kubota and JD which are for the most part smooth as butter. I have been very pleased with it the past two years. Only regret is I didn't get the next model size up with a cab. Pretty sure 4 bros sells Kioti, NH, and Mahindra - so if they had a few on the lot he could compare. I pass by there on the way home from work and it had been pretty bare for a while, but I think they were finally getting some inventory in.

I wanted to go used but finding a good condition used 4x4 tractor with a loader is a tuff find and not be sold already by time you get there. I don't think any of the medium and large frame compacts use DEF. Tier 4 compliant engines under something like 74HP don't require it to meet EPA standards. I've only ever seen DEF on tractors over 75hp.

Check out the Mahindra's at J5 down the road My dad bought a mahindra and not long after he bought it he passed away. He gave I think around $21k for it brand new, around 60 hp. It had just a few hrs on it I think around 100. Mama put it up for sale and when the potential buyer called the dealership they told him it wasn’t worth but $6k. There’s no way I would ever buy a mahindra. That's an odd assessment. This 59HP got an offer for same price it was bought for 600hrs and 5 years later. The kicker is that offer was via a dealership @ a service appointment. I think you got swindled I've owned or used a lot of tractor over year's. For a mini-me size, Mahindra has been impressive. This would also depend on if it had a loader and was 2 or 4wd.... I could very well see any 60hp with no loader or 2wd only being worth that kind of money... it would have to be both to be down at 6k but even a clean 2wd with a loader is gona max out around 10/12k right now unless it was mint

I've only ever seen DEF on tractors over 75hp. This is also correct they have an egr with inline filter from 35-75 hp with no stop regen process. anything above that must have def on it. There are many differences in the 30-75hp range though... some have a single process stop and regen, some have auto with a timed stop... some never stop to regen... I think only Mahindra and simpsons at the time is that way...could be wrong though.

You dont buy the tractor, you buy the service and parts availability 30 years down the road. Some of these brands wont even be around then (i.e. Kioti, LS, Branson). Do the research. See who actually builds the tractor.
Most of the off brands are built in China or South Korea (Branson, LS, Kioti, smaller John Deere)

You are dead right on all points PMK Kubota builds a DAMN GOOD machine that lasts. The reason I went with Mahindra over it was a simple one....weight. To get the same weight machine in a Kubota I would have had to step it up an additional 20HP or more and another $20k. To me the weight deal is not a huge thing in mid sized tractors until you drop a plow into the ground for the most part. At that point is when you need need it. For mowing, even baling hay and what not it is not really an issue. If I remember right back in 2012 when I was shopping out specs hard the Mahindra was over 2k lbs heavier with the same sized machine. Now, if I could step into one of those 110-125 hp Kubota machines I'd do it in a heart beat but I'm just not willing to drop $80k or more right now. lol
