Wait, are you wanting to get him certified, or do you just need proof of his certification?

That is a lot closer than Cabelas, but still why are these places so far apart and few between?

Program has to meet certain requirements for it to have reciprocity in most states.

I personally think it should be longer and be more informational including triage, basic navigation, search and rescue understanding, etc

My sons went through it at the Cabelas in Allen. The "instructor" basically strutted around and told hunting stories and was unapproachable. They got their cards but will never get their time back.

The class is a waste of time. If I had been born 4 years earlier I wouldn’t have been required to take it. Both of my sons will take it this year. Just another government hassle.

Thanks for the link on where to find a class. Closest one to me is 30 miles.

Guess that is why you call yourself Bobo the Clown. Too dense to see what a big issue this is.

The instructors are all volunteers I believe. I know my dad was an instructor before he passed. The have a hard time finding enough people to volunteer their time to do it and I don't think they have the budget to hire instructors. Maybe you should consider becoming an instructor to help pass on the tradition to our youth?

If you were born Sept 2, 1971 in the great state of Texas and grew up hunting and was raised with guns and taught the proper and safe way to handle them, you would have to take a hunter's education course to hunt legally in the state of Texas.

If you were born Sept 1, 1971 in San Francisco, CA, have never seen a gun in your life, know nothing about wildlife or how to take them ethically, you can come to the state of Texas and hunt with no hunter's education course.

This has nothing to do with safety and wildlife education and everything to do with revenue from the class and the tickets they can write for not having it. The requirement needs to go away.

All these requirements to exercise your rights kind of defeats the purpose of them being rights.

I disagree as the the in-person course cost is $15. They probably are barely covering their expenses at $15. Same thing with the citations, I just don't think there is a windfall of revenue generated from tickets.

I will say it's kind of ridiculous trying to get my boys the course. Last fall, there were courses, but you had to be willing to travel pretty far away and they filled up fast. I looked last week again and there was almost nothing available in the entire state.

You are one griping about location, I had to drive 20 miles one way for two days to get mine done 30 years ago. You act like it’s some huge inconvenience. It’s essentially a fire arms safety class for kids since adults can take on line. Texas offers a deferment for reason.

Again become an instructor. Problem solved. Want one in school become an instructor and go talk to school board. You can probably get donations from NRA to reimburse expenses of becoming an instructor. There is specific money set aside by Pittman Robertson act also.

Most courts will dismiss it for a court cost of $10-$20 if you show them proof you took it.

Fact Texas offers deferrals says a lot. Some states you can’t even apply for preference point or small game license with out it.

We do need more instructors badly though.

In TX Under 17 has to do theirs in person for good reason.

Technically ol grumpy Ricky booby could buy his grandson a Oklahoma NR license online, then he could do Oklahoma’s online class assuming they are older then 10. Oklahoma has reciprocity in TX

But it’s easier to project then just google.
