I'm going to be catching some snakes and selling them soon. Does anyone know of any rattlesnake buyers around weatherford or Brownwood?

thanks,

Might see if the Sweetwater Rattlesnake Roundup would be interested in them.

Here is a tip for ya, if you wear shorts and sandals you can sneak up on them easier.

It seems to change every year but they sell for about $2 - $9 a pound. It just depends. If anybody out there has a den on their place and wants some rattlesnakes thinned out then please let me know

Contact MAVERICK TRADING POST in Farmers Branch - http://www.fordinfo.com/scmaver.htm
They were a major buyer of the rattlesnakes at the Sweetwater Roundup!

My parents were a vendor at the Roundup for 30 years and would buy the smaller snakes from Maverick. Maverick would freeze and ship the snakes to my dad here in Waco.

How do you find them? Just "ramble" or look in special areas?

I used to be butt deep in snakes of all kinds, mostly rattlers. Then, we had a 4 year drought that eliminated a bunch of snakes along with other stuff. Then the hogs moved in and seeing a snake of any kind is now a rarity.

I respectfully disagree. There are hogs on my friend's ranch near Brownwood. Except for the dead of winter, we see snakes almost every time we go. We all have boys and we catch rat or bull snakes then have "snake school" where the boys practice handling them without getting bit. Snakes are fun.

The best prank you can do is put a non-poisonous snake in the beer cooler and watch your friends have a heart attack when they go for another beer

I road hunt them, when it starts warming up they will be out on the roads early in the morning. Pretty easy catching.

Beside roundup/fair type events, why would there be buyers for rattlesnakes? For boots, belts, that kind of stuff?

Played on a sand green golf course in SW Kansas years ago. You didn't want to be first one out in the morning as the rattlers loved the warm sand. Man there were some big tracks through that sand. So I can definitely agree with the sandy road hunting.

That prank might be ok if it’s not your cooler... cause it’s going to get shot full of holes. rifle
