As mentioned aboce, grilled okra is very good, cut the stem, slice long ways. I use very light olive oil in a baggy and shake it , then add a little Tony Cachere's or my french fry mix, and shake it again, ... It is also very very good on the smoker, same prep.

While I was taking Environmental Science in college, my professor who happened to also work at Blackland Research in Temple and a PHD, had developed an okra pod that doesn't get hard even when it gets long. The stalks also get approximately 10 ft tall. He gave me a coffee can full of seeds. I've grown some and they aren't too bad. The hard part is getting the stalks down for me to pick.

That happens with age.

Well I started these a bit late this year due to being busy with a family members health problems, the seeds you sent me. They started just fine but the heat and no rain caused the plants not to put on so I just let em go without being watered for a while. The grasshoppers ate them up killing two of them but they kept a little top on them up til the recent rains. I did water them a bit through the hottest days. However just since the recent rains they came back strong.

My favorite is Baby Bubba Hybrid. I doesn’t get tall.

If you like it slimy, the wife and I like Louisiana Green Velvet.

I have some okra that I grow every year. No idea what the variety is. I got the seeds from my granddad. He called it "Mississippi Okra" pods are probably twice the diameter of clemson. But they stay tender. I'll be glad to share some seeds if someone wants them. Just PM me. Pay for a shipping label and they're yours.

All okra is good. It's in the prep that makes some better. Fried okra using bacon grease and cornmeal is great. Pickled okra with jalapenos is also a great snack.
