44 in Groesbeck, and light rain. In the wee hours the rain will turn to snow or sleet.

Hey, if it makes anyone feel better, (it did for me,) people up here aren’t any better at driving in winter weather than we are. They like to give us hell for it, but I see them in the ditch just as often anytime the roads are slick.

Stay safe, and warm, up there.

I’m staying safe. The warm part is a challenge.

I drove from Allen back to Longview this morning. From the number of electric repair trucks I saw on I-20 headed west, they are expecting some really bad damage. I stopped counting after 150 trucks. There were bucket trucks, drill trucks, pole hauling trucks and several support trucks. Just about every truck stop had a bunch of them refueling, Buc-ees, had about 30 trucks.

With the expected ice, I'm happy they're coming!

Freezing rain coming down just north of Lake Ray Roberts - big drops too, freezing on contact. Trees already getting 'coated'.

It's only 30 degrees outside, but my heat-pump is already icing over pretty good;
- switching it over to propane-furnace only mode manually in a few, till precip stops.

Not these days. They put me up in a hotel. I’m well kept. Even while working I spend most of my time in the shooting cab, which is comfortable, but I do have to venture outside from time to time. Let me tell you, negative temps go right through you.

Happy for any rain in that area, it’s extremely dry.

Only problem with that is the mud down here was spawned from Satan himself. Driving up and down lease roads all night isnt fun when it gets muddy

Our trees are already pretty heavy with Ice in frisco. I doubt this will be snowmageddon 2.0, but we'll have icy roads for 24-48 hours.

"Control" being the key word! But I'm not telling you anything new.

I wonder how hard Governor Abbott is praying that we don’t have wide spread power outages. I would think wide spread outages would lead to his demise as governor.

Fannin County mud is terrible.

I noticed on jeopardy last night that half our schools in our 3 county area and a bunch more in OK schools were either closed completely or “distant learning” Thursday and Friday. Before we even knew or not of any actual weather was coming. I think Covid has made it too easy to close schools. If the kids gotta stay home for “remote learning” parents gotta stay home too.

I’m really not surprised.
