May I introduce Scout.
We picked him up on Saturday and he is settling in nicely.




He and my 5 yo, Rye, are getting along great. Rye brought his favorite toy to the puppy within 10 minutes of meeting him for the first time, and is defiantly taking the big brother role to heart.


I'll work with him to the extent of my abilities, but I've already told the trainer I sent Rye to that he should book a slot for this guy in the late summer. He'll be raring to go this season.

I'm a diehard White and Orange Brit guy, but this is my first roan. He's 3/8th the same DNA as Rye, getting a 1/4 from his mom and an 1/8 from his dad.

I'm not looking forward to the every 2 1/2 potty trips during the cold wet weather that is settling in.

The Sire belongs to Dustin McNabb, the Texas Quail Forever Rep. The Dam belongs to a friend of his. Both are from Frosty Meadows bloodlines.

Miss my Britt, they are some sweet dogs. His last 4 months with us he had 2 Schnauzer little sisters that were 8 weeks old when they met. I think they actually added a little pep back into his last few months with us. He did enjoy playing with them and sharing toys along with teaching them the ropes.

Brittany energy + Puppy can be a little intense at times. He can go from sound asleep to flying through the house in under 10 seconds.

He is already pointing quail wings and cats. Cats are not thrilled with that. He also loves the little spring door stops. Slaps them with his paw, the barks at at the noise it makes. Funny, but gets old when you are trying to work. He is fearless when outside and he likes to explore.

Nights are good, other than setting the alarm for 2:00 & 4:30 AM to take him outside.. No fussing when he is put back in his kennel at night. During the day, its another matter. He wants to be with people or the other dog 100% of time. This week we are working on him being in his kennel, but in the same room with people. Lot of whining involved in that. He can keep it up for about 30 min at a time, then goes to sleep, instead of playing with his toys. When he gets used to that, the next step will be moving the kennel out of my office and into the family room.
