We are noticing bucks still fighting. Lots of busted antlers. I thought the rut should have been over weeks ago.

This was taken yesterday.

Yup
Some does don't take the 1st or even 2nd time they come in and you have some early fawns from last year that will come into season.
It's why we see late fawns every year

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

It can also happen in areas that have a bad buck to doe ratio, does in bad shape, etc. Busted antlers can also happen when there is a lack of rain in the key rainfall months.

Usins too. Lots of serious activity when it gets down to the last one or ones. I think ours is pretty much completely over for the mature does. Every buck is broken up with most missing a beam.

It is over when the bucks lose their antlers as their testosterone level drops.

I have been getting alot of fighting pictures as well, Always do this time of year. I more or less just assumed it was due to the bucks just now grouping back up. Never really thought of it as still rutting.

I’m still seeing bucks aggressively approaching does and does running away when bucks approach. Bachelor groups are starting to forming but sparing matches are still common. Some good bucks that had a full set of antlers through the extended season now have newly broken antlers.

Fighting or sparing? That looks more like sparing in that one pic.

We saw very few does at the feeder this year because as soon as one would show up she would have 5 or 6 bucks chasing her.

We watched deer fight from opening weekend through mid January.

Have seen as many as 13 bucks at a feeder at once and only 2 does that were quickly run off. In an area that was nearly wiped out with anthrax, so hoping the does are just staying away from the feeders. We are seeing really good numbers of 1.5 to 3.5 year old bucks. You would think there is a doe somewhere for every 1.5 year old buck you see.

I watch them fight each other in my front yard regardless of rut. As long as they have antlers they do it.

Yep. This morning I watched 5 antlered bucks chasing doe fawns. At one point two of the mature bucks threw down and started trying to hurt each other. 14 deer at one time under my feeder. A new record.

I thought I was crazy- I went and checked feeders this am and a buck was chasing a doe all over the place. It was like it was late November. The buck paid absolutely no attention to me.

It’s not whitetail, but I saw lots of blackbuck and other antelope species rutting this weekend. Chasing and “delivery”. But the whitetail were pretty bunched up with bucks and doe and did not see anything in terms of rut

Mine are still sparing a bit....maybe helps them get the antlers off....by the way. Kroll says that cottonseed is bad for deer in his opinion...

I hog hunting on 2-11-2022 from 7am till 9am. I didn't see any hogs but had two 8 points fighting in the woods for around 15 minutes. Several bucks chase yearlings. It was an enjoyable morning. I ended up seeing 22 doe's and 10 bucks in that little time. Freestone county

Had a report of six bucks chasing a doe yesterday. One hunter came in with our last doe and, let’s just say, she was bred well.
