I've watched them climb out of a 6' trap with barb wire on top.
One shot is all it should take.

Another great video!  'Amazing how high they can climb. I bought a pig trap off a guy on here. 'Turns out...neither one of us knew what the hell we were doing.

All my traps have a top on them but to hard to do on one this size. The ones around here that big have about a two ft overhang built on the top angled out cause if they ever get their front feet on the top they are gone The overhang stops all that

Yes, I lose several each year while trapping...when they climb out.
I use 62" panels...4"x4" squares, but they still get out.
Many folks think hogs can't 'jump' very high either....but I can tell you that any mature (and fit) hog can clear a 4' high obstacle if they want to....no problem.
Higher than that and some will resort to climbing.
Spartans ask not...how many, but where!

It's interesting to watch trap behavior. I'd rather catch a climber than a basher. The porcine bashers that haven't learned to climb will destroy the trap looking for a way out.

Caught the one that climbed out yesterday morning at 3:50am, sold it today. New video will be on my youtube channel in a day or so.
