Being from Carolina I need help understanding the difference in Red sheep; Mouflon & Urial. They are all beautiful and have them on my bucket list. I have a hard time telling the difference in the Red sheep and a Mouflon. The Urial seem to have a lighter more blond looking coat. Thanks

I think a lot of the confusion comes from some of the ranches that misrepresent those species. Many have sheep that are not red sheep, pure mouflon, urials, etc. that say they are to make money on people who are no familiar with what the sheep actually look at. My suggestion is to look at what these sheep look like in their natural habitat where they are hunted and find specimens in Texas that represent those traits.

Is this a Urial? Is this a good size? I know it would be preferrable for more of a full curl but is this considered an adequate representative or too small? The darker ram in the back is a mouflon and is 30" for comparison...

It looks more urial than anything else. In my opinion it is only going on 2 years old and I would wait until he is a couple of years older. [Linked Image]
This was taken a few months ago. He was a little over a year and a half at that time.
