Weather was too pretty not to run the dog today. I know some heavy thickets laced up with briars that usually hold woodcock but I had been avoiding them. With temps in the 20’s, brush pants, a canvas jacket and some good leather gloves for armor was comfortable. Hoping the birds would hold tight in that jungle I carried a 410 with a half ounce of 7 1/2’s today. I put the pudelpointers gps collar on him and it felt like God was smiling down on us when we left the truck. Cricket busted the briars and pointed a limit of birds for the 410 today. Very nice. A Mossberg 500 pump in 410 followed me home yesterday. Hoping to perfect my turkey calling and get some 20-30 yards shots this Spring.
