Speer .224 BulletsBTW: Those Speer 70 gr bullets stabilize well out of a 1-in-14" .22-250.

Speer .224 BulletsBTW: Those Speer 70 gr bullets stabilize well out of a 1-in-14" .22-250. I tried working up a load for my Ruger M77V with 1:14 twist years ago with this bullet and never was able to get anything near an accurate load. Results ranged from saucer sized groups to even keyholing. I load them for my Mossberg MVP Patrol rifle in 5.56 1:9 twist and they shoot fine. If you don't mind me asking, what is your load with these bullets in a 1:14 22-250?

If you don't mind me asking, what is your load with these bullets in a 1:14 22-250? My .22-250 is a sako with a shilen 1-14" twist varmint weight barrel. My best 70 gr Speer RN bullet load was 37.5 gr of IMR 4530 lit by a CCI 200. This best load is about 1" at 100 yds - not stellar for what my rifle is capable of but suitable to hunt with. It's interesting to note what this rifle likes & doesn't like. Sierra 69 gr MK shoot into a 2" group with most bullets hitting sidways! The Sierra 63 gr SMP shoots tiny groups with just about any powder you dump in a case. My plan was to body shoot a deer or hog with the Speer 70 RN but I don't remember ever shooting a critter with that bullet.
