I noticed that the axis deer typically don't come in at first light with the whitetails for some reason, atleast not in the last few months. So I set the timer to go off at 7:15 am and then again at 7:45 to try to draw in some axis that may be in the area and here the feeder go off. I can also hear other feeders going off in the area on a quiet morning and I wanted to be the last one to go. It worked this morning when the whiteys ate all the corn on the first throw and then left. On the second round they came back but brought an axis doe with them and they don't really get along very well. They were chasing her off the corn and I held my draw for probably 2-3 minutes, it was getting a little obnoxious, that and I had my hoodie up because it was cold and I can't get my thumb release anchored properly. Finally I knew I better just make my best effort before they all took off and by the grace of God I whacked her high but found her in the cedars about 80 yds away. More excellent table fare and another rug for the back of the couch I suppose [Linked Image]

Congrats, any deer with a bow is a real trophy.

I get them done at The Nugget Co. in San Antonio...kinda pricey at $195 but they do a good job and close enough to drop them off in person.
