Haven't seen this guy all season and he show's up a week after the season ended. Would have made a nice cull. Any guesses on age. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2022/01/full-1752-332103-deer_1.jpeg)

Looks mature but fluffed up hair when they are cold makes it difficult. Staining of the hocks on the rear legs shows he is mature. Does not look like a cull to me, more busted up and/or injured antlers.

Calling it a cull because the right antler only has 2 points. Doesn't look like there are any broken off. Hoping to see him next year.

I would say that is from antler damage or a body injury. Not genetic and my guess is he won't look like that next year unless it is pedicel damage.

Hope so. The right antler just juts out like a spike and then has a little fork. I'm glad he made the season. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2022/01/full-1752-332109-deer2.jpeg)

At my age, the deer's age no longer matters.

Hard one to age. I'd go with 5 if I had to do it off these 2 pics
High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

I am finally on a lease that has a variety of ages and I am still trying to learn how to age on the hoof so any help with that is appreciated.

Reviving this thread from last year. Is this the same deer? The rack has switched places with the spike? on the left side? ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2022/11/full-1752-368570-deer4.jpg)

No way of knowing without an ear notch or a scar. Certainly has similar genetics. If it's the same deer he took a pretty healthy jump. Looks more like 5.5 now. Good luck!

My guess would be its not the same deer. His normal side last year the beam goes back and then forward and stays kind of low. This year the beam goes a good ways up before it goes a little forward. Both are unusual and not very good pics at all. Both seem mature.
