I am wondering if this is a viable option. Hypothetically , a person has a dozen or so pieces , wants to sell , but does not want to
go thru 12 transactions. This person does not believe that a fair price would be paid by someone who buys " collections", at a pawn shop,

I am wondering if there is a small FFL shop in East Texas that would accept these pieces and post on Gun Broker and
handle the posting and shipping.

My friend owns a gun shop here in Weatherford. We have discussed this before. He said he would and can do it. For a fee though. Especially if going through gunbroker who takes 10% off the top already. If he was willing to do this I am sure there is someone around you that would do the same.

What shop in Weatherford?

Unless they are high end firearms, consignment and GB would eat a large chunk of the price. List them as a lot on here or somewhere simular and I bet he would get more money.

Typically, in my experience, consignors wants 25-35% of sales price, tack another 10% from GB and you're not left with much. Be better off listing as a lot with a 20% discounted price.

Why wouldn’t someone sell them on gunbroker themselves? It’s about as easy as falling off a log. Take a few pictures, list them, when they sell ship off to the buyer’s FFL. I sold a half dozen guns on there a year ago it was painless.

Selling individually is the only way to get a decent/fair price…

I know some shops do consignment but if you are concerned on getting a fair price I’m not sure that would be the option I would consider. If they are everyday firearms best bet it to try to sell here or another forum. Collectibles that’s another story but depending on what they are could be an easy sell. Consignment you will loose 10-25% from what I’ve heard from people who have done it. Of course depending on what it is who knows how long it would take to move them all. I’m local and if it’s something I’m interested in I’d be willing to make an offer on the lot.

Maybe or maybe not. Depends on what it is. I sold some ammo for guns I no longer owned on gunbroker and it brought way more than anyone would pay here. I think gunbroker is less hassle. You list an item and it is an auction and sells for what it sells for just like eBay. When you list something here you get a half dozen messages with lower offers, trade offers, people wanting you to split up what you are selling, etc. I kind of enjoy the wheeling and dealing but if you just want to get rid of stuff I’d say gunbroker is less hassle.

Any offer on the whole lot will likely be less than what you could get for them individually. Consignment at a local gun shop might be a good option if you are old school but they are going to charge the same or more than gunbroker and they will be catering to a much smaller audience.

Log make, model, serial number, and date recieved, in the book of every firearm.

When one sells, the buyers name, address, LTC number or NICS background check number is logged by that firearm. 4473 form has to be filled out for every firearm and kept by the FFL.

Add in advertising them for sale, and communicating with potential buyers for probably months.

As has been said, you will get more by slowly selling them yourself. Individual to Individual.

The trick to getting the highest buck for your gun on GB is to start with a low number like 5.00. No reserve.
It can be risky but if you start it at a high number or a reserve people don’t start bidding. If you can get 3 or 4 people bidding they will get in a battle to win and overpay.

I highly recommend selling on consignment at the local gun shop. I tried for two months to sell a Beretta shotgun here with nothing but a couple low-balls. I had it listed at $550 and I got offers at $450 and $400. I took it to LGS, and they said they take 15% for consignment but said they thought it would sell quick at $600. Low and behold, 2 days later, got a call it was gone. $500 in my pocket, didn't have to meet anyone or haggle or anything - wish I'd done that from the start.

Talk to the guy in Jacksonville, up north side of town on Hwy 69, west side of the street before you get to the Chevy store ....used to be the largest Weatherby Dealer in East Texas, moved to Colorado but altitude got him down and came home, or the guy, Ben, on east side of the square in Athens facing the Court house. A very old friend in Buffalo, Archie VanWey, from my Sporting Goods rep days is who I've been using the most lately for my consignment sales.
