I know there have been a few threads that have touched on this but I have narrowed it down to these two spotters. I get a Veteran's Discount to buy direct from each company these two are my finalists. Here's what I have found so far. I know Vortex is not real popular on this forum but from all my research, this is what i've found so far.
1. SX4 is actually made in China Viper is made in Phillipines 2. Spotter protection - The covering for the Viper appears to be a little better than the Leupold. The lens covers tend to fall off the Leupold 3. Warranty - Leupold's is now in writing. Advantage here appears to go to Vortex in case of a disaster (like running them over or dropping off the side of a mountain). I have several Leupold scopes and can't say that I've ever done either. I have returned items to Leupold and I do know their customer service is second to none. 4. Opinions from hunters/birders - Haven't seen any negatives on Leupold.. Vortex - people either love them or hate them
I think I've looked at every YouTube and/or website trying to come up with a tie breaker. Just getting ready to make the final purchase and wanted to see if there are any additional opinions out there. These two are within my budget and at age 72, I just don't have that many hunts left in me that I can justify the high end stuff. Usage will most likely be a few antelope hunts and digiscoping during the off season.

112 Looks and no responses. I believe I'm going with the SX4. I'll do a review when I get it and get it checked out. I own some Leupold scopes and a Vortex.rangefinder. To be honest I've really not had issues with either in quite some time. I've contacted Leupold on a couple of issues in the last 30 years or so and every time I talked with them, they went above and beyond my expectations. Ordered direct just now.

Honestly if that was my budget I’d move away from big companies and look at their direct to consumer companies. They tend to offer more for money in mid tier optics. Maven, Tract etc

Never been to a camping world. I prefer Dick's to be honest.
