Kids would do better if they were dropped off at a game and parents came back after the game was over. Sad, but too often true. A lot of the 10 and up select teams have parent sideline contracts. You can get you kids benched or kicked off.

One of my High School teachers use to umpire Little League games during summers.
One woman got on him one night and would not get off of him. He called time out, walked up into the stands, stood in front of her and loudly said, you obviously know more about the game than I do. You call it ,took off his umpire garb, dropped it front of her, turned around and left the stadium.
Next game he called, you did not hear a word from the stands by any one. Not sure that’s the best way to handle that.
At some point in life its time to quit chasing the pot of gold and just enjoy the rainbow. FR Keep your gratitude higher than your expectations. RWH

I’m pretty calm until it's a straight parenting issue and the parenting issues kids parent is also the coach. Bad combo when you have 13 year old refs. He ain't lying. I saw him go to nose to nose with a mom in the middle of an 8U field. Got a little concerned about him. Russ you win the internet foreverrrrrr well played, my friend!! I was genuinely concerned! She must have had you by what 50-75 pounds?

I was long running, unpaid president of local non-profit female junior sport organization. Had a 13 year old on a second team who would become a D-1 later. Her mom wasn’t happy with her playing time. I was taking a pee in the bathroom of the Austin Convention Center when I got bumped. It was that girl’s Mom expressing her contempt with how we ran our very successful nationally recognized program.
Just wish I had been smart enough to turn towards her.

I used to have a football coach who couldn’t control his anger. He Would sneak off in middle of the game. I used to see the taillights of his Subaru brat heading out of the parking lot.
I didn’t mind his outbursts. I missed a tackle once on a kickoff, he grabbed me by the facemask called me a P…. You know, he was right, I coulda made the tackle.

I had a coach tell us one time that if he wasnt on your azz then it meant you didnt matter. He’s the only coach I still think about and wonder whatever happened to him.

After most my life playing or coaching sports, I have some good stories as most coaches do. But, my favorite is when a VERY large dad came out of the stands and onto the field to jump on my cousin who was umpiring. Cousin said, don't come on the field and when the dad got within arms length, my cousin put him to sleep with one punch. That'll serve as a pretty dang good deterrent for future field rushers!
And btw, you weren't out of line, but some kid on that team needs to be taught how you handle bullies.

Momma is still furious so we decided it would be best if she doesnt attend any games. She’s big time momma bear. She said cops prolly would’ve been called had she been there. She scares me so i know dayum well the stuff coming out of her mouth would be violent and disturbing. One time I looked a waitress in the eyes when I was ordering and my wife told me I better not fall asleep before her that night

I’d be pissed, too, but I also think it’s good for kids to deal with these things. Having not been there, I couldn’t say how I would have reacted, for sure. Most likely, I would have instructed my kid on how to insure that little prick never tried to push him around, ever again. That’s probably not right, but that’s probably what I would have done. My stance I hollered at a couple 2yo monkeys for doing things they shouldn't be doing. They were yelling at each other in their own language which was funny but they were mad. If I am yelling at him at 5 yo something went wrong. The girl by 8 I hope.... Jesus is she dramatic
