Is my family the only family that doesn’t call their dog by their given names? I’ve got 4 dogs, and 3 of them we call something nowhere near their real name-

Maisie— we call her “Ray”
Emmitt—- we call him “2 shoes”
Mellie— we call her a “smelly benelli”

my neighbor has a bull terrier named Roscoe ,, I think turdhead fits him better.

Our dog is Little Mo , most of the time we call him BOY

Kiki- Call her "Stinky" she's a Shih tzu that farts like a Bull.

Charlie goes by Cherrrr, Char, chi-chi, Mrs. Chi, Charles the chicken mini, and chi chi burr
Waylon goes by Way, Mr.Way, Wakie or Wakieboo just to name a few.

My daughter has always given our dogs loads of Nick names… is what she does so I play along. Dogs are probably confused as heck

We have a meaner than hell Chihuaha, his name is Gus he is about 8

He answers to his given name, piss or nuts...

My new dogs registered name is Dolly. We call her Donkey.

The Jack Russell's proper name is Magdalena. Mrs. B loved that name after traveling through Magdalena NM on the way to AZ one time. I call her Mag's, Maggie and Maggot. After she got a little older and went full Jack Russell Mrs. B started calling her Crazy Bitch.

I always call my Brittany by his full AKC registered name. My wife and my hunting buddies do the same. Every once in a while, he might get called Stupid or Fool, but that is rare.

His AKC registered name is "Rye"... that is it. Just Rye

Though I call my dog Dash, I think most everyone else calls him Dasher. I usually gave my dogs single syllable names, but everyone around me would always put -ey on the end. So I'm just happy family and friends are not calling him Dashey.
I do find myself calling him Little Buddy a lot and he obviously thinks it's his name too.
If I call him by his full given name Dash Rip Rock, it is usually because he has just ignored a command or done something bad. He instantly knows it too and usually complies at that point. Like a kid.

Had a Boston Terrier, my daughter named Bug.
I called her Boo, booster, it'sa, da-boo, and she answered to all of 'em too..

Had a German Shepard Named "Greasey"
Brought her home in a Super-flo oil box.. (she was just a mutt)
Wife picked her up, and said she needs a bath. She's kinda Greasey..
And it stuck...

Ponto- we call him Mr. Fats now mostly. He is a 25 pound "miniature" weenie dog who likes to eat

Ive got a Lacy pup named Kate that we refer to as Crackhead

Our inside dog is a mountain cur. His name is Benji but he will come to Dog, Dumb Dumb, Scooby, or my personal favorite, Littl' Sumbitch.

Got stuck with a lil' schnauzer inside pup named Annie for a lil' while (14 years). Called her Rat Dog. Came to like the lil' schnauzer.

Named mine from my pantry. Cocoa, Cookie,Ginger, Peaches, and the list goes on.

Max and the newest 1 year old is Jazz. Got Her tiny and around 3 months old. She's 3 foot tall and still growing. Scared of Her own shadow. Max the Pit bull ain't scared of nuttin. Both inside guys.

Our last dog’s name was Bocephus, but we called him Bo. We’d sometimes call him Bubba, Bub, Bubs and my wife would also sometimes call him Bubsy. He only got Bocephus when he was in trouble and Bo when we were issuing a command. The rest were just nicknames and when we were sweet talking him.

Sally usually gets called by Sally May or Sally Hound....
Chief usually gets called by Chief-o or Chiefton...
they'd probably look at you stupid if you used their real names.

Miley = gets called Miley Rocket or just Rocket for the way she comes running through the doggy door.
Sadie = gets called Sadie Sue
Roscoe = gets called Roscoe P. Coltrane

I’ve got two:
Cedarwoods southpaw. I call him Cricket cause he ate a battery powered cat toy that made cricket sounds. Had to pay a vet to get it out of him the day after I got him home.
Cross Timbers Diesel. Call him Moon Dog cause he howls at the moon. He also answers to Shi Thead. Spelled sh!t head. Self explanatory

Friend's overweight white mutt was out in the back yard when google took their last satellite pass for google maps. Named Pete.
