I had that left shoulder rotator cuff surgery in, I think, July. It’s a lot better now, but not totally pain free. But, it was time to reload some 223 and 220 and prep some 6.5 CM brass. Single stage press, and the left arm does most of the reaching here and there grunt work. It hurt, sort of a muscle burn, but I kept after it. Not because I’m particularly tough, but I needed the ammo redone. After a few days, the muscles have quit complaining and hurting. I guess it qualified as a rehab exercise. Who knew…?

I used to refer to loading as therapy. It’s almost got to where it’s just a rushed necessary evil now days.
Glad your shoulder is feeling Better!

Better than the 12oz curl.... It is a good exercise. I've done the same with drums, starting with soft and simple and VERY SLOWLY working back up to playing through Megadeth or whatever. I need to learn to use my other arm for reloading part of the time, so one huge arm doesn't make me look lopsided when I'm out walking around after 10,000 rounds in one session.

Thanks, Judd. I admit to hating having to set up all the reloading stuff in my woodworking shop, but once I get into it, I’m pretty happy. And luckily, I don’t have to rush, being retired.
And Remo….Megadeth? On the drums? Wow…

I’ll be setting up tomorrow. Plan to load 300-500 rounds of 45 Colt on single stage presses.

My friend who is now in the brass processing business as a sideline will be dropping off 184lbs of 223 brass Friday. I will get to play more on the Apex10 then but I normally don’t do marathons on loading just crank out a 1000 every once in a while.

Be damn careful with that left shoulder. If you screw it up, you get to redo the surgery. I had some serious gut surgery last September involving 25 days in ICU. Went home with the warning to not pick up anything over 4 pounds for 3 months. My muscle tone really sucked so I started doing light weight lifting while sitting in my recliner. Everything was going great. Muscle tone returned and I was walking a mile twice a day. Doc was pleased that, at 79 yoa, I could do this stuff.
Then, a couple of days ago, I was sitting in my recliner doing some lifting, still with 4 pound weights. I felt the burn in my left shoulder and realize that I’m probably, again, a candidate for shoulder surgery. Having been there once before, I’ll hold off and see how it goes.
Damn and double damn.
Without a sense of urgency, nothing ever happens.

Plan to load 300-500 rounds of 45 Colt on single stage presses. I may have misspoke. I have a couple of buddies coming over that also need 45 Colt. I’m going to set everything up and watch them load while I drink beer they provide.

I too find alot of therapeutic value in being at my reloading bench. Kick on a nice long podcast, a game or youtube video and get to work.
Glad to hear your shoulder is getting better. My left shoulder to has been giving me some issues so I've been going to a legit chiropractor and has been feeling much better. She said it was a small muscle tear in the rotator cuff. Showed me some motions to exercise a specific muscle set I apparently rarely use. Switching my press handle for FL sizing may actually help.

All the loading I did yesterday was painless, to the point that I never thought about it. So, this has done me some good, which was completely unexpected. And I am being careful, as Dave suggested, because I sure don’t want that surgery again. The surgery wasn’t bad by itself, but the recovery and therapy was not much fun and took a long time. And it isn’t over yet. Some motions are still somewhat painful. For instance, using my left hand and arm to put a rifle and sling on my right shoulder still causes an Ouch. Smaller ouch than last month, but still a bit painful.
But, the good news is that I’m still heading in the right direction. Of course, the end result will still be that I’m an old guy whose shoulder no longer hurts.
