Need a place to get my 12 year old son his first chance at a bird this year. I don’t need meals or lodging as long as there’s a cheap hotel or camping options nearby. Guided or semi-guided/diy (I’m a novice caller so bird numbers probably need to be pretty good if Diy lol). Any recommendations?
Btw we will be doing public land as much as we can but I know that’s a long shot for a bird, which is why I’m looking.

I have one more opening for a youth hunt if your willing to drive. Its in Derby, TX. $500 for up to two birds. No lodging or food, closest town with lodging is Pearsall about 11 miles away. If your interested give me a call or a text. I can send you pics from last season.

FYI the turkey hunt is for my boy, but we aren’t available for actual youth weekend.

My boys do a ton of public hunting in neighboring states and most of the youth draws are still open. Youth weekend dates are different in various states and the public land is typically not as pressured during those states youth weekends. Texas also has turkey hunts available through the Texas Youth Hunting Program. If you are a first time hunter with TYHP you have an excellent chance of being selected. Two of my three boys have completed their slams on public lands.... yes even the Osceola in Florida. My 15 year old is hoping to finish his this year. The one thing the youth will need is his/her hunter safety to do any of these hunts. If anyone reading this needs hunter safety for a youth, PM me as I will be holding a Hunter Safety class before turkey season. Lastly, if you or anyone reading this wants more information about youth draws/lotteries in other states.... PM me. I have been taking advantage of these hunts for about 9 years now and there are some great opportunities..... if you don't mind the drive.
Take your kids hunting and you won't have to go hunting for your kids

We have a great population north of Abilene. I already have one father/2 sons combo set up to hunt with us this year. We have lodging and can provide a caller if needed. He isn't great but with Rios you don't really have to be. Especially early when they are still eager. Gobblers usually come in with 2 or 3 others.

Go check out the Texas Youth Hunting Program... There are still a few hunts posted as of the other day. https://hunts.tyhp.org/
