Any of you gents ever shave off the beard (or goatee) after a lengthy run? For some odd reason (little too much bourbon maybe) I got the urge last night to shave off my beard I have had for 20+ years. Wife was in tears and kids were shocked/speechless. Needless to say I look terrible and starting the re-grow. Only the 2nd time in 27 years the wife has seen me clean shaven and the kids never. Feels very odd today.

You have to give it a little time before passing judgement, I don't know that a day or two is enough to compare to 20+ years. I shaved my porn 'stache after 20 yrs some time back, was odd at first, but happier without it.

There is the fugly thing to consider, I'm more beautiful without it.

Last time I did it was for a beard growing contest here in the OT. At least a decade or more ago. Damn I looked homely. But a nice knife and a deer hunt where up for grabs for the winner. I tied with DGRUFF(?) I think and we donated the prizes to a veteran on leave from Afghanistan. (might have been SapperTitan??) Doubt I'd shave again unless it was for a very very very good cause.

Beards are on the way out.

It was a cool factor. First, everyone grew a beard or shaved their heads to be tacticool, a real operator look. just look in all the shooting magazines.

same with all the ink.

I'm an old fart, have a scraggly goatee and a 30-year porn mustache, both out of style. I keep trying to shave it all off, but the GF says no, and yall know how puzzie whipped i am.

When you shave your beard off and walk past a mirror and it makes you stop and stare at the person in the mirror and you think dang dude you ugly and need a beard! Its a rude awaking after having a beard for awhile .Good thing is it will grow back just remember leave it alone it has a important job hiding our ugly mug!

Did it last year to rock a stache for the end of the year. Public service announcement -- do it deep in the winter or trim it off over time, otherwise you have a comically pale section of your face.

I cut off my 10 yr beard off back in November when i was so sick. Use scissors as close as possible by feel before even looking in a mirror. Did the rest in the shower. It's coming back now.

One shot is all it should take.

I shaved all that off after I over heard a twenty something say "yeah, all those old geezers have whiskers"

I thought about it, looked around and he was right.

Longest I ever kept one was about 2 months. After it stopped itching I like it loved not shaving and the wife who has been completely agains facial hair since we started dating said it could stay. A week or so later i was ready to get rid of it.

Had an uncle I had never seen clean shaven in my life, I was around 20, he was in his mid 50’s. He up and shaved it off one day and I would have sworn he was 18, turned out that’s why he always had a beard was because people always thought he looked young.

It looked like a possum had been attacked all the gray hair everywhere.

Shaved a year and a half worth of beard. Over the ears and off the collar haircut
Was below the ears and way below the collar. Off I went , almost presentable, to a big deal for my teenage grandson. Hope The Old Coot didn't embarrass him but I felt nekked.
