All my stuff is ugly but it works. That is a good topic to discuss though.

Colt Gold Cup that I wore out shooting IPSC back in the 70s and 80s and had rebuilt by Frank Glenn a few years ago. Frame CCH'ed by Turnbull. Mammoth ivory grips. Leather by Jeffrey Custom.

Mine would have to be a revolver or 1911. Neither of which I own...

If I were to open carry a pistol as a bbq gun, it would either be my stainless vaquero or my Coonan. That said, I'm usually drinking copious amounts of beer at a BBQ, so carrying a pistol might not be the best idea.

This is my BBQ gun. But it does have some scratches due to attending a lot of BBQs.

Does "bbq gun" mean an open carry gun?

I'm a dude who likes long barrels!

If you open carry daily, like one would have done in the late 1800's, when you went to a BBQ, you would dress up,and carry your fancy gun in a fancy holster.

I have to admit I really like the looks of that Gold Cup! But I go old-school with the revolver. Besides, you need a good matching knife to slice that pig!

Gotcha, learn something new all the time.
Then a fancy 1911 is the best choice to me. My plain jane kimber stainless ii will have to do for me. Would love a full size Wilson combat. Blasphemous I know but maybe even in 9mm like an edc.
A close second would be a full size USP or Sig P226, don't have either.

Well, since the points to be noticed and talked about at the barbecue, I'm thinking I would go with the high point in a Uncle Mike's ballistic nylon leg holster

Thank you. That is one of the cheapest handguns I own. But it is a product of the "Bubba Network."
I bought a used Ruger "Liberty Gun" around 1980 from a local gun shop for $125.
Then traded photography service to a gunsmith for the birds-head grip frame. He was modifying factory stainless frames a few years before they were being turned out by everyone.
Then traded photography service to an engraver for her to do my gun.
I traded a load of walnut to a grip maker who did the sambar stag grips. (The walnut came off of my land. In the deal I also got walnut grips for my S&W Mod.19, a set of elephant ivory grips for my 1911. It was a big tree!)
The grip maker also had enough stag left over for the scales for the knife. Geno Denning out of SC made the knife. (Yep, more photography work.)
I added the Bisley hammer and did the leather work.
It took about three years to get together, but the process was fun. The nice part is I used that gun just about every day. It is the one I carry around my property when I take a walk. The second photo shows why I feel the need to walk well armed. (That sucker was sitting in my driveway!)
It also shows that I never let a good prop go to waste. grin
