I recently got a Remington 700 limited in 300 weatherby magnum. From the research I’ve done, which is limited, this gun was made in 89. It’s in excellent condition. I was curious what this gun would sell for. Debating selling or rebarreling.

Why would you rebarrel?

Don’t want a 300 weatherby. I have a custom 300 win mag I shoot 230 grain Bergers through. No needy.

There's not really a shortage of Remington 700 so I would simply sell the one you have if the barrel has any life in it and then buy another one in a cartridge that I would be happy with.

That was my thought but I can’t find what this one is worth. The limited version were special runs every year in one caliber different year after year. Probably worth a little more than an ADL made today.

Pretty 700s bring 800 and up but an odd ball cartridge will drop the desirability and the value. The 300 Weatherby has long ago been eclipsed by other cartridges and even though I'm a fanatical hoarder of guns I don't recall owning a rifle chambered in 300 Weatherby.

The gun you have is known as a Remington 700 Classic. If you look up completed sales under that search name on Gun Broker you should be able to find what they have been selling for.

I didnt look at completed sales but there is currently one brand new in the box right now with 1 bid at $1100. In my opinion thats pretty steep. I am familiar with the 700 Classic line up and dont recall them ever bringing that kind of money unless they were the more scarce calibers like the 350 Rem Mag.

^^^^ I would give $1,100 for the Remington being discussed but not anything more unless it came with some extras. A Winchester Super grade or all weather is a better rifle by any measure and they don't bring much more then that on a good day from a motivated buyer.

How’d It go from the answers given here to posted for $2k in the classifieds. With a synthetic stock.

I would scope the bore to get an idea of how many rounds it has been shot, eroded throat, etc. and let that determine to keep as is, sell, or rebarrel.

Just saw that ad. Its not a "Classic" based on his description in the classifieds, and not made in 1989 either. Dont think they even offered a stainless fluted barrel in 1989 on anything. That may even predate synthetic stocks on factory 700's as well. It sounds more like a 700 CDL SF variation of some sort to me. Pics would clear alot of the confusion up, but if the gun is original there is no way it was made in 1989.

It could even be a Sendero SF as I think they chambered a run of those in 300 Weatherby. He does not mention a heavy barrel though, so I lean towards it being a CDL SF of some sort.

Thats a very recent production gun that I am not real familiar with. The little scan code (tag) (or whatever its called) that is on the action is a dead give away. They for sure didnt have such a thing back in 1989.

From just a few minutes of searching I found several 700 CDL-SF in 300 Wby, all with wood stocks and same floor plate ingraving. That leads me to believe that the gun is in fact a CDL-SF variant and someone most likely put it in a HS Precision stock.

Very nice clean looking gun and the stock is a nice upgrade. If it left the factory in that stock I would be surprised though. Once again it is a very recent production gun though and most of my 700 knowledge is from the mid-2000's back so that gun could very well be 100% factory and just been a dealer or distributor exclusive that is not cataloged anywhere. I have run into several such guns over the years.

Yeah I like It a lot. I think you’re right that it’s an aftermarket hs stock.

I wouldn’t pay $2000 though

^^^^ 2k is way over priced for that rifle but it is still a very nice rifle if you like shooting $5 a round ammunition

^^^^ If you follow online auctions long enough you'll notice a trend of the same bidders winning auctions from a seller over and over for the same item. I see that more with gun auctions than any other type.

Also the auctions that you listed are new in the box Old Stock rifles and that makes a difference.
