Is it just my imagination or is this deal too good to be true? $609 seems cheap even for an UGLY scope.

Burris Scope

It’s a great scope. Good luck with optics planet. They’ve screwed so many people I can’t believe they’re still in business.

Probably no one wants that color.

Yup

The usual black ones sell easier. Ain't a big deal to change the color of that one. Heck of a deal, if Optics Planet is telling the truth.

David is right. I remember I was buying stuff from them and all was going well. David warned me and then I got burned. Won't happen to me again. Should've listened David.

Great scopes, if you can get past the ugly "optics planet exclusive" color scheme.
Burris scopes are heavy, but every one i've owned has worked perfectly and have great glass.

Are y’all talking about Burris or Optics planet ?

I've seen that color combo discounted through another vendor before. If you can handle UGLY, that's a good deal, but you're rolling the dice on the vendor

What would be the easiest way to go about this? Spray paint? Wrap? Other?

Well, I decided to hold my nose and order one. Got it about five days later. I must say that - other than the color - It looks great. I am still piecing my rifle together so I haven't mounted it yet. I'll let you know how performs when I get it all done.

Easy way, cover the turrets and lenses, and Krylon primer then paint.

Bit higher quality, but you need the tools to do it, same prep and then air dry Cerakote.

I've painted a scope, like he said, cover the turrets and get after it. I'd paint this one matte black. I packed the lenses with cotton, had two 6" square pieces of plywood on each end with two pieces of stock cut than ran to each board and screwed it all together. This held the packed cotton in place, sealed the lenses and held everything in place while I painted it. Prime, light coats, cure, finish coat. Several light coats works well.

An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

Much like JESmith, I took a chance on Optics Planet. I ordered the scope Sunday evening and it arrived today (Wednesday). It is slightly better looking in person, but...damn. I know why they were selling them cheap. For the price it should be easier to live with.

Thanks for the suggestions on how to paint it. I'll do some thinking on it.

I bought Wheeler high rings to mount on top of my EGW rail. Probably could with mediums and not touch.

I'm going to try a pair of Vortex .92" (is that low or medium??) rings on top of a Nightforce picatinny rail. It is going on a Rem 700 SPS Varmint (heavy barrel). I think it will clear.

IMO ... Wheeler rings are good value for the money. They are a bit thick and heavy but well machined and coated. I think the bubble level is a bit gimmicky and not sure if I will keep it on or not. I do like the fact that you can adjust it. Mine was WAY off from the factory. I mounted it to the base and put it on a level surface. It took about 5 min to adjust and Loctite it.

Too bulky, no need for them.

Night Force Ultralight rings are where it's at.
